Hey everybody. Cameron Hemphill, here, your host for Medical Millionaire. Hey, I hope you’re having a great day.

And first off, I want to thank you so much for listening to our podcast. Our goal and vision is to give incredible insight into the medical spa market. My team and I, we’ve consulted with some of the top injectors, top medical spa owners all over the country for years. We see businesses that are absolutely thriving, that are crushing it, that are having fun enjoying what they’re doing. And then we see other businesses that are still trying to figure it out.

How are you trying to figure out how to grow your medical practice? What are you doing online? How are you successfully scaling? And so we see ones that are extremely disciplined and extremely organized and totally get it and have it figured out.

And this doesn’t come from just natural ability of business. This comes from trial and error. This comes from not being afraid to fail, right? And so once you understand that failure is just another step in the right direction, that’s where success is, right around the corner, right?

And so we can see that by just looking from the outside in to all of the medical spa owners, cosmetic surgeons in the market that we talk to on a minute by minute basis. We’re on the phone all the time. We’re on screen shares all the time. We’re building out very robust websites all the time, doing SEO, teaching best practices, teaching scalability, and so it’s kind of cool that we have a tremendous amount of passion and can see from a third party, like bird’s eyes, view perspective, and then internally, inherit that data and push it back into the public on platforms like this.

So throughout this journey together, our goal is to help take your practice to the next level. And in this episode, I want to talk about online selling and online store creation. This is something that has been or been around for years. E commerce, selling has been around for years.

You know, I would assume everybody listening to this, or at least 99% of the people listening to this, have purchased something online prior to the COVID-19, but COVID-19 has excelled completely changed and taken like from what 2019 was, and pushed it all the way to what 2030 would have been, which is what is today.

I mean the advances and the online selling with just, you know, the restrictions in what you can do from the mandates, has really pushed the online selling to new levels. So this is something that we are seeing continuously grow. And when we are working with clients on building out robust websites, some of them already have online stores.

Some of them have an idea of, hey, I want to sell online, but I don’t know how to do it. Some are thinking about it. Some are making tremendous amounts of money doing it because they figured it out through trial and error, right? So selling online is definitely here to stay. And if that’s something where you’re selling products or you’re selling services, or even if you’re selling consultations, however you’re positioning yourself to do this, you really have to put your mind in the consumer.

What does the consumer want? They want the easiest path of least resistance. Okay, they are running their lives through controlled chaos. And so if you can enable them to make their lives easier, your revenue will go up through online selling, okay? And there’s, there’s several ways to do this. There is the ability to create an online store, okay?

And you can use various platforms to create an online store. Shopify is a great platform. WordPress, through WooCommerce is a great platform. There’s other platforms that are out there. You can actually even talk with Allergan or Glo Derma, and I know that they have specific websites that you can actually brand yourself, or you can white label, if you will, and spin up a very quick URL and embed that into your brick and mortar website for online shopping, right?

So if you have products in your physical location, they should be online. And the reason why is you your reach is longer. And then if you build up your social media, you can push people to buy your products online. Or when somebody comes in for a visit, you have the ability to email them what’s available in your online store, right? So it’s going to be extremely important to if you’re thinking about doing this, definitely start to put the plan in motion.

If you have already started implementing this, start to figure out the best processes and way to scale. And then if you are already successfully doing this, start thinking about how you can market it to generate more online revenue. Okay, so there’s product selling that’s going to be very important here to stay. A big part of this is, again, thinking how the consumer thinks so. Why does everybody use Amazon?

Because it’s easy. You can go conduct a search, you can find the product, and you can check out. Really easy. Okay, I see, if you look at the data points on bounce rates when somebody is inside of an online store when they leave. A lot of the times it’s in the checkout experience. So the checkout experience has to be perfect, has to be flawless, has to be easy. The ability to put a credit card in first name, last name, phone number, email, even integrate it with PayPal or third party applications for ease of use, of payment.

Okay, this is the thought in the consumer’s mind where they’re saying, Okay, I’m at the last final step of exchanging my hard earned money for a product of value, right? So you have to make it very easy for them. The other thing is going to be making sure you have really good pictures. If you don’t have high quality pictures, multiple pictures with good descriptions, maybe even some before and afters in this regard, maybe some reviews around the product details, even some testimonials, video testimonials around the product details.

These are all things that are going to make your online store much more enableable to the end user to making sure you’re increasing your overall volume of distribution through online selling. Okay, so the other component to online selling in this space is your services, right? And I can’t tell you how many times I talk to medical spa owners that are still not doing online booking, and they’re not having the ability to book online and then pay online prior to checkout or prior to visit, I can tell you right now, if you give them the option, like consumers want to book online, yes, you’re going to have the personality that wants to call.

You’re going to have the personality that wants to chat on the website or inquire or even text or DM you through your social media. Yes, you have to tailor to every personality, but I can tell you right now where this is going is number one. I’ve already talked about it in my previous episodes. Online Booking is a must, but then having the option in those online booking environments to pay now or pay when they arrive, okay?

And you’ll find like, if they are committed, they want to just pay now and just get it over with, because they want to make their visit an experience, but at the same time, they value their time, right? Because if they’re coming in to get Botox done, filler, facial, PRP, whatever they’re doing, they have an appointment before that appointment and an appointment after, right? These are working professionals.

These are mothers, these are individuals that that have an agenda, right? And so if you can make it easier for them, you’re ultimately going to make the experience easier for yourself and then easier for them to convey how much of the enjoyable experience they had to talk to other people about it. Okay, so booking online and then checking out the ability to take credit cards very quickly, pushing that into a very solid gateway, and then pushing those funds directly into your bank account, right?

And so it’s really easy to set up. So if you’re in a position right now where you’re like, you know, I’m not ready for online booking and online payment. My schedule is crazy. Sometimes we have overlap. I hear this constantly. I still use paper charts. I still like to use my little paper planner. You may think that’s like an easier way to get.

The job done initially. Because what that tells me, as a total tech nerd, automation geek, is is you’re afraid of technology and you’re afraid of change. Okay? And I’m telling you right now, if you don’t embrace technology and change to where this world is going, you’re just gonna fall behind even further, right?

And so a lot of the times, so a lot of the times we’re working in our business, like constantly, it just becomes mundane. It’s the same over and over and over task. You got it down to a science, but that’s where innovation stops. And so I would encourage you, anybody that’s listening to this podcast, I would strongly encourage you, to take a day out of the month, or a day like I know that a lot of medical spas are closed on Mondays, take a strategy session to, like, step out of the business, day to day activities, and look in and say, Okay, where can we automate things?

How can we improve our processes? How can we scale right? And not only, like, how you scale to a second location, third location, fourth location, like hire more injectors. I’m not talking that. I’m talking how can you make your business run more efficiently and effectively with less time, right? And what that’s going to do is it’s going to make your life easier. It’s going to make you more profits, and you’re gonna have more fun, right? So take that strategy session. So just constantly, I have an appointment, I have an appointment, I have an appointment.

You’re doing your thing and doing your thing and do your thing like step out, look from the from the outside in. Where can we really adjust things and move the needle to make your life easier? Okay? So, again, there’s a lot of tools out there that you guys can leverage. I know that most of you know about them. I’ve seen some really great online booking platforms. I’ve seen some really great stores.

Growth99 has worked with some clients all over the country to help build them on the online stores for them and also integrate any third party booking you’re using. And then also, just want to throw this out there too, is we are focused on building our online booking platform as well. Because me as a thought leader, and I want to say technology marketer, industry expert, when it comes to this vertical, we see problems, and then it’s just my in my team’s personality, to want to solve those problems, because we have a tremendous passion, and we want to help this space.

Okay, so the the practices that I see that are thriving are using technology, and they’re using these systems to scale like they have discipline, they have organization, they have structure, they leverage technology. They all have online bookings. I could actually pull up a list of all of our clients, and I could say, okay, the top 10 clients we have based on based on their revenues. The ones that are that I know are doing the most in volume and sales. They all have online booking.

They all have online stores. They all have a client gift card. They all have memberships, okay, and they have really great people as well, that that helped put all the structure into place, but I can tell you that that’s what I’m seeing, and that’s where you need to be thinking to go if you’re in a position where you want to scale your medical practice. Now let me share just, just a you know, Brief. A success story with you. We have been working with a client that had a very simple like web page, I think it was built on Squarespace, and we migrated them to a WordPress environment.

We build everything off of WordPress. We host everything on Amazon, AWS. And the reason why is WordPress exposes you to the best tools, the best SEO. It’s open source. You can leverage it, you can scale it, and you can bolt on online stores, and you can bolt on online bookings, and then they host on Amazon, AWS, because it’s, it’s the best, most reliable. I call it the Ferrari of servers. And so that’s where we host things.

We’ve I’ve seen this client go from Squarespace to just like single web page, slow, sluggish website, they have a good social media following, and their call to action on their social media is their website. You click on it on your social media, and you can’t even navigate the website on the mobile site, right? And you can’t book online, and you cannot buy anything online, right? And so just from a consulting perspective, I’m saying, well, where’s most of your business coming from? Well, most of us coming from social media is what they say. And I’m like, okay, that makes total sense, because you have a huge following.

Your engagement looks good on Instagram, for example. Now how many people are clicking on your call to action link in your profile, on your Instagram? Well, I’m not sure. Okay, so I said, Well, the first thing you should look at is, there’s a cool tool out there, and there’s other tools, but there’s a there’s a product called link tree. I think they have a free version and a pro version link tree, if I think, if you have the Pro version, it actually gives you data on who’s clicking on your call to action, and then in that data, it’s showing you what that person’s doing.

And so I said, why don’t we just take that URL that’s pointing to your website right now, let’s spin up linktree Pro, and I want to look at the data over the next 30 days. I couldn’t tell you how many people were clicking on that link that were trying to go to her website, because then I actually had the data and exposure, right? So I want to say it was, it was north of like 1500 clicks. Okay, so what that told me is, basically the month prior that client had about 1500 visits coming from their Instagram, going to this website that basically did nothing for the end consumer. Okay? They couldn’t call, they couldn’t book an appointment, they couldn’t buy anything online, and they couldn’t book and put their credit card in prior to even visiting the medical spa. Okay? So once I said, once I embraced the vision in that regard, we built a brand new website, WordPress, beautiful, hosted website, mobile, friendly, and then all of the call to action came right to the website, the ability to book online, the ability to book and pay.

We built out the online store, the chat, the text, the call immediately, and we ran the data for 60 days after that website went live, and we tracked the sales and the volumes and the bookings, her bookings went up 65% after that quick fix. So if you’re in a position right now where you’re like, hey, I have a website, you know, like, it’s okay, my Instagram does all my sales, and everybody just DMS me and text me like that’s not a business built to scale. I’m telling you right now that’s that’s a great way to have a few years of success, but it’s not a business that’s built to scale.

Okay, so again, best practices would be to take a step back, look in, talk to some consultants. There are some amazing insiders in this space. In fact, growth 99 we’re going to the am spa Show in Las Vegas that’s coming up this May we come in on May 7, we’re going to have a booth. Feel free to come talk to us. But it’s not just us that you have to talk to. Like there’s consultants in this space. American Med Spa the AmSpa show, they have tremendous, like, amazing resources, so reach out to them as well.

And a lot of you I know that are listening to this are members of AmSpa and have gone to the show or have done some boot camps, right? But just start to communicate with with your peers, your colleagues. Talk to individuals like us or that are in this space that have a lot of passion, that understand technology, that understand process automation, that understand how to scale businesses, that understand e commerce, that understand how to convert people, how to grow your Instagram, how to grow your reviews, how to build out a website like how to build the infrastructure to have a powerhouse of a business, right?

Because at this what we’re doing, if you’re going to an appointment to give somebody Botox, you’re exchanging your time for. For that time. And the reason why you’re doing it is because there’s an exchange of income, and you have passion in this space to make somebody feel more confident, right? Like I fully believe that, because your time is your most valuable asset you have. So why would you go do it? Right? So if you can do it effectively, and you can automate it, and you can have more fun doing it and scale it like that’s that’s the purpose, right?

And so because you’re you’re sacrificing, you’re gonna go do that objective, but you’re sacrificing something else. Maybe that’s time with your husband, maybe that’s time with your kids. Maybe that’s like a workout time or time with family, or whatever it is. Remember, you’re exchanging time for value when you’re doing these appointments. So anyway, got a lot of passion around this. Sorry for rambling and ranting, but I really wanted to make my point across in this again.
