Cameron Hemphill

Hey everybody, Cameron Hemphill here, your host for Medical Millionaire. Hey, First off, I want to thank you so much for taking the time to listen to our podcast. Our goal is to give incredible value and insight into the medical spa market, the beauty, cosmetics industry, anything health and Wellness. So when it comes to digital marketing. And when it comes to consulting, we work in this space for years. We have clients all over the country. And today I have a guest that is joining us. And we’re going to walk through her story and her journey. And I want to welcome Danielle Bolden to Medical Millionaire. Danielle, hey, how?

Danielle Boldon

Are.

Cameron Hemphill You are good. Thanks so much for taking the time. I really appreciate it.

Danielle Bolden- Absolutely.

Cameron Hemphill – Yeah. So I, I want to talk really quick like your story in your journey really stood out to me and and I work with a lot of folks in this industry that have you know create a lot of success and some that are trying to figure it out right. And so just with building, I mean we built three websites for you. And I know that you’ve been in this space for a long time and in a couple different verticals, right, like being a landlord, like having a medical aesthetics business, having taboo. And so talk to me just just for a brief moment like about your story and then if you could transition into your why that would be awesome to hear

Danielle Bolden- – Okay, no problem. So I am a hairdresser by trade so I started doing hair when I was 18, so 21 years and now. And worked for people for about two years. It didn’t work for me. So I went into my own space renting a studio in Scottsdale and realized that all the salon studios that were out there were not aesthetically pleasing for the artist or anyone in the beauty industry. It was more like a strip mall, hospital, like hallways and just not really artistic.

So you know, after doing hair for about 15 years, I decided to purchase a building and create a space for other stylists and people in the beauty industry. For them to have somewhere where their clients can walk in and be proud of. To give them, you know, something that was pretty and not just the hallways and rooms.

So in creating an environment and then you know after doing that I saw the need for a Med spa within the building, all of the tenants and all of their clients were already here. So just creating a one stop shop, so having you know hair lashes, makeup Med spa where we can all work together as a team and create an environment where the client feels welcomed and feels like they can come and get everything done in one spot.

So you know, I guess that is you know my story and then the why and I just I have a passion for the industry. I love everything about it and where it’s going and we continue to evolve and just watch independent stylists and independent people start their own business and walk away from you know Commission based salons and take on their own journey.

And take control of their lives and their financial freedoms. So it’s super fun and exciting.

Cameron HemphillI I I love that. Thanks so much for sharing that and I think you know the audience that tunes into this podcast is going to get a lot of value and insight because I think it’s cool that you say hey you know like I went, I mean you’ve been in this space for a long time.

And work for someone else and you’re like OK like this isn’t going to work for me. Quickly found out like you have an entrepreneurial spirit and you probably knew that early on right. I’m not sure but if you want to control your time you want to control your destiny which is super cool and so you basically focused on what you knew and what you wanted to do and then as that evolved right like as that evolved through time.

I call it you. You basically attach yourself to the existing You’re in the space, you saw an opportunity and you’re like, okay. Well, real estate’s exciting, you know, and and and I can basically create an environment where I can help other entrepreneurs succeed and also like, help them control their destiny, so.

I mean, I don’t know, it’s just it’s really inspiring. It’s super cool that you can basically create something, help others create what they want to do, assist with them. And then also when it comes to medical aesthetics, it’s like, OK, we can create an environment there, own a specific brand and then scale that at the same time, right?

Danielle Bolden- -Right, correct.

Cameron HemphillYeah, I’ve seen that in my inside of my career too in the sense of like you have, like you’re in your own space, you’re in what’s comfortable and then as that entrepreneurial like mindset expands, you see opportunity, right. It’s like that growth mindset where you’re not just locked into a specific framework. So hats off to you that’s that, that’s exciting and Congrats and I’m sure there’s a lot of entrepreneurs that hang around you.

That that looks up to you and I’m sure they are excited to have the opportunity to sit with you and connect.

Danielle Bolden-It’s definitely really fun to watch young women come into space and be really afraid to go out on their own and take that jump. And then, you know, after the first month of being on their own, coming to me and being really excited about what they’re able to take home versus what they were able to take home on a Commission working for somebody else. So it’s really fun.

Cameron HemphillAnd the confidence, right. Like, yeah. Like they realize like, ohh, my gosh, I’m so I’m capable. Like I’m. I’m confident. I’m beautiful. I know. I know what I’m doing.

Danielle Bolden-Yeah.

Cameron HemphillAnd to take that leap and then see it through to success. I mean that’s like the American dream and story which is Sony okay. I wanna transition really quick because I know that you know we’ve we’ve talked on the phone a lot I know you’re you’re an athlete and and I and I know thaT Physical fitness. and also like connecting that to the mind and energy and confidence is also something that is important to you. And it’s something that connects with me as well. I’m an early burden and I tend to live in that realm as well. So talk to me just a little bit about that and how that’s able to be positioned. Can you just keep moving?

Danielle Bolden– Fitness is very very huge for me. I get up at 4 AM every morning to make sure that I can do it. It keeps my head, right? It’s you know being physically fit and taking care of, you know yourself and your body it also shows a reflection of character. I think somebody that is committed to taking care of themselves is the most successful person. I know they are pretty fit or take care of themselves. I think it kind of goes hand in hand and it just the dedication, you know, it’s being dedicated to yourself and finding that time to make sure you take care of yourself even in you know, the crazy world that we live in and as busy as I am like I will you know, I find time for it. I make sure that it’s in my schedule regardless because if I don’t get it, I’m just not right but, you know feeds the endorphins and just kind of gets my day started, right?

But I think it’s just part of a lifestyle, right? You know, if you typically take care of yourself successfully it all again goes hand in hand. But yeah, I’m a huge advocate for you know Fitness and Health and eating right and taking care of yourself. And that’s one of the things I love about, you know, the Aesthetics world too. Not just you know injectables and things like that, but you know the IVs, the NAD and all the other things that we provide, you know, it’s it’s Wellness as well. It’s not just the aesthetic side of it

Cameron Hemphill– Yep. Yep, I 100% agree. And I think you know you have to if you’re going to be a business owner, especially in today’s world. You have to be an athlete like you have to train your mind that you’re running a successful business and you have to be physically fit or else I feel like there’s the next person out there. That’s just gonna

Be more hungry, right?

Danielle Bolden– Right.

Cameron Hemphill– Um. And you have to take care of your body. And you have to take care of your mind and also your diet, your habits. And so, yeah. Having that morning routine, that ritual, um, getting your head right for the day and getting that endorphins and wakes you up. You know, I mean, ah, you got me by a half hour or I got up at four thirty. And I, um, if there is a day that goes by where I don’t know, get my morning session in I’m I’m kinda grumpy. I’m honorary. I’m not a shark, you know. And I think that is, ah, a huge contribution to success when it comes to entrepreneurship.

Is beating the Sun up is is having that routine and it’s incredible what you can get done from that time to where what is it where I am? It’s 9:45 right now. It’s 8:45 or Europe. Right? You’ve already not for four four and a half hours. I mean,

Danielle Bolden- yeah

Cameron Hemphillpeople are getting up right now, right?

Danielle Bolden– yeah Yeah. I’ve already done. I’ve already done leases I’ve done. Yeah, I’ve done. Yeah. It’s already been a day so far.

Cameron Hemphill–  It’s already been a day so far exactly. So I I love that and it’s exciting that we’re able to share that so, thank you. The next topic I want to get into really quick is is I know you’ve you just purchased this building and you’ve just done this this build out because

Danielle Bolden–you mean the second location

Cameron Hemphillyour second location.

Danielle Bolden– yeah this under building. It’s under construction right now. Yep.

Cameron Hemphill–  So talk just talk to me a little bit like where you’re at. How many rooms you have? And what like The Five-Year Plan is with that. And so now what was that again? I’m sorry. So just just how many how many studios are in the second building? And then how many will you have collectively right and then I guess where are you at? Have you leased everything out? And what is the long-term strategy there from a from a multiple business standpoint?

Danielle Bolden– Yeah. So we so I, you know, put the offer in December. We closed in March. Um. We started construction the first week of June. So we’re looking to be completed.Um the end of October. So in that location, the new location will have 24 Salon Suites and then a full the Bed Spa will move over there and that will have its own separate entrance Lobby check-in three treatment rooms. So total of 27 rooms total and then at my current location, we have 15 Salon Suites. Um, so current location. I’m completely leased out for at least in their two years and then at the new location so far with pre-construction leases, we are at about half full as far as leases are concerned signed leases that we have.

So I think by the time we open we’ll be close to full if not full a lot of people, you know inquiring but we it’s still in the stages where you really can’t see it’s just Framing and things like that. So as we get closer obviously people will start to see what it is turning into and will probably get everything filled up. The long-term goal would be ultimately to again create this new space with new fresh faces and create another environment where we’re all working together and referring to one another and then long-term goal is to buy purchase another building and about two years. and do one more

Cameron Hemphill I love it. I love it. Um, so if I run the numbers is that 42 rooms then in total.

Danielle Bolden– yeah

Cameron Hemphillokay. That’s amazing. And instead now and you have been historically, I mean, again, and I follow like a lot of successful entrepreneurs on where I want to be next. And a lot of them were real estate ads? Right. Is they take they? They make income from their business, and they they store it or save it. I guess it’s another word and to make room for opportunities to invest and be able to position themselves when those opportunities arrive to invest and acquire assets. Right that are gonna produce cash flow.

Danielle Bolden–– yeah

Cameron HemphillPassive income, right? So

Danielle Bolden–  right

Cameron Hemphill– So right here whether you are taking your appointment here that I know you have about 10 minutes or not. There’s passive income coming in

Danielle Bolden--correct

Cameron Hemphill– –Which wich is how you retire. I mean this is not position yourself to to yeah,

Danielle Bolden-that’s exactly what I’m doing positioning myself to retire and be able to live the lifestyle. I am accustomed to

Cameron Hemphill– exactly and you’ll have enough passive income to put yourself in a position to fully step away even now. I know you love what you do and maybe that day won’t come for years. Who knows right? Because you have a passion for what you do and it’s something you also want to do.

Danielle Bolden-  Yeah,

Cameron Hemphill— but in the event that something happens and you’re like, you know what I’m done or you’re like, you know what I’m gonna I’m gonna move I’m gonna take a world a year off and travel the world or whatever it is, right? I’m gonna spend time with my kids.

You your positioning yourself like you’re thinking long term. This isn’t a a quick. You know, let’s let’s get wealthy overnight like this is wealth building.

Danielle Bolden-Right

Cameron Hemphill— You your positioning yourself like you’re thinking long term. This isn’t a a quick. You know, let’s let’s get wealthy overnight like this is wealth building. Right, and it’s it. It’s awesome. I mean 42 units is fantastic and then having ownership in taboo, obviously that yours and method which is the Aesthetics business is is really cool. So really quickly and we I know we could talk for hours on this topic. Yeah, and I know that you know, we’re in a Time strength, but talk to me a little bit about the new website in in marketing with method. Taboo Salon or Scottsdale Salon Studios.

Danielle Bolden– Um. They’re great. I’ve um, you know, I’ve always been super hesitant with web companies and marketing companies in the past because they you know, promise you the world and then under deliver super disappointed, um. And this is the first time that I’ve worked with a web company. Me where I was pleasantly surprised and just shocked at how quickly things moved and how efficient things were done. Um. The content building was amazing. Um. Making changes super easy. I’m just super happy with everything. The website look amazing and they flow amazingly, um.

They represent, you know my company and who I am and I think that that’s a huge part of finding someone that can understand what you’re looking for and be able to put it, you know into a website and it represent the company and the people behind the company. So, you know, just the attention to detail on what I was looking for was delivered and just like I said, the communication just hands down. I’m just Super impressed, which I would don’t say often.

Cameron HemphillYeah, I I really appreciate that and you’ve been very direct with that up front, you know, and and you have your passion and you want to make sure like when you’re working on one of your clients that it’s all about customer experience customer satisfaction, right? And it’s something you have passion and that goes for us as well. I think that there’s you know, whoever has passion out there and truly cares like

Is available does respond is helpful and over communicates and sets expectations. So I really appreciate you saying that. And yeah, what I guess I got one more thing is you are so many hats. And I know I’m not the only guy you talk to you right? I just help with your marketing, right and in our team does with acquiring real estate and leases and working in the medical aesthetic space and working with other entrepreneurs. I mean shoot 42 other entrepreneurs owning multiple businesses. I mean, I’m sure you’re on with with attorneys constantly CPAs constantly, like I know how it goes, but what about like family right? I know you’re a mom and I know you have have kids and we haven’t talked a whole lot about that. But but how do you juggle?

You know, family versus business and like the constant, controlled chaos where you have so many hats. And everybody has a need that you have to fulfill, like, how do you manage that.

Danielle Bolden– – It’s a good question. But um, everyone asking that. So I am a single mom with two kids that I have full time. Thirteen and ten. And to be honest, um, there. Why I do what I do? Um. There you go. It almost brings me to tears because it’s it obviously takes. Um. A lot of time away from them. Doing what I’m doing, but I’m trying to create. Um stability and financial freedom. And um, for them.

Sorry, you’re okay. I this is I I really appreciate this. Um Here so it’s it’s a lie, and I and I’m I you know, I do the best I can I’m only one person. You know, I have a great assistant Carly that without her nothing would work. You know, she keeps the wheels turning at home. She’s my nanny and my assistant and she’s essentially the other half of me. Um, but my kids are amazing. They’re super supportive. They’re very very mature for their age very self-sufficient and both of them have that same entrepreneurial Spirit. My daughter loves to come to the salon and set up lemonade stands and make money

You know I’ve teaching her, you know, what taxes are and rent and cost of supplies. She didn’t like that the first time but she’s starting to understand it. Um, so, you know, we just at home when I’m home, you know, they they get me, you know, when I get home from work, I turn it off and divide my attention to them. You know after I work out in the mornings I make them breakfast we spend time together and we do we do big trips. So I work really really hard and then I play really really hard. So, you know, we leave and typically in the summer for two weeks and we spend two weeks together. We do many trips we go skiing and you know in the winter we go skiing and spring break.

So I try to spend as much quality time with them during that as I possibly can. But yeah, it’s it’s a struggle. Um you know. Especially having, you know. No one at home to help. Um. But like I said, I have my both. My kids are so so amazing. And they’re so good. And there they don’t. They’re not. They don’t act out. They’re not troublemakers. Um. So it’s you know, because of that, I think it just makes everything easy. Um. But you know it’s it’s fun. And the process is fun and having them be right here, watching everything happen. You know, my son said to me, um, the day that I found out that the the bank was going to give me the loan for the new building. I was in the car with them and I start crying.

And my son’s like why are you crying? I’m like I can’t even believe this is happening. Like I’m pinching myself. Like I was just a hairdresser, you know didn’t have any money when I started, you know, no one gave me you know money. Nobody helped me. There’s like no family there to help me. So, you know, I was just like I can’t believe this is happening. Um, so, you know, I think them seeing that and you know, my son’s like well Mom, isn’t it cool you don’t only own one, but now two buildings on Scottsdale Road and I’m like, oh my God, I do. Um, so, you know again, it’s just if you really believe in yourself and you really believe in something I mean if I can do it, I feel like I’m honestly like anybody can do it. You just have to want it.

Cameron HemphillWow that That was a lot to take in. You’re you’re an aspiration to everybody, you know, every entrepreneur every parent. business owner I appreciate you sharing that and in a circle back like in the beginning, you know, as I know that we transitioned into your why quickly, but that’s your why you know, yeah your why is them and that’s why you get up at four in the morning. And that’s why you have so much discipline and so much consistency in so much Drive. You know, and so I think that set so special and so unique. That that is just it’s inspiring and and the fact that you’ve been able to do what you’ve done and you’re still hungry right? Because you’re like wow. Okay, is this really happening like to me and anybody can do it and you’re there and you’re in your you’re still hungry and still still motivated because you know, like hey there there is another level like that, which is great, you know, and so

Um it’s I appreciate you. You opening up to us on this podcast and telling us about the journey. And I know that our audience is going to get a tremendous amount of value from this hearing from you.
