Hey, what’s up, everybody? Cameron Hemphill, here your host for medical millionaire. First off, thank you so much for taking the time to tune into the podcast. Our goal is to give incredible value and insight into you becoming the best practice owner possible. We have worked with practice owners all over the country for years. We see ones that are thriving, ones that are having tons of success, and we see others that need help, others that haven’t quite figured it out right. And so through this journey together, we want to help you take your practice and your life to the next level. So let’s begin. I want to talk about something that is very important as we come to the end of the year. I’m recording this right now, December 1, 2023 going in and preparing to close out the year, open it up with a new year with a bang, right? And so as you look at what’s taking place right now, you have a tremendous amount of like divide in the world, right? There’s a lot of negativity out there. There’s also a lot of positivity out there. You pull up your phone, you look at your device, and you never know what you’re gonna get. You’re gonna get negativity, positivity. You’re gonna get people that are flashy, people that are not flashy, sadness, happiness. It’s like this, this crazy, emotional game that we play, right? And it saddens me, because I feel like we need to be focused on ourselves. We need to constantly be focused on what’s going to better enhance our lives, our families lives, our business lives, our practices, lives, the people that surround us, the people that we love and we want to always put ourselves in a position to becoming the next best version of ourselves, and so everybody around us can also thrive. It’s bigger than you, right? And so what I want to talk about is breaking your old shell, right? And so a lot of people will call this season Ed mylett calls it separation season, right? I got a different term for it. It’s called breaking your old shell, right? And so what’s happening as as you look at the world winding down for the year, a ton of people are retracting. Tons of people are going on vacations, or they’re going, you know, they’re spending time with family and eating food, which is all great. I love vacations. I love spending time with family. But this is also the time and the place where you can leap your competition. You can actually compound them with the sense of you doubling down your level of activity. You know, learning a new skill set, reading a book. Dial in your marketing plan, dialing whatever practice management system that you have, understanding all the tools that you have. You know, on demand within your practice, you know, learning a new skill set, signing up for conferences that are going to take place next year. Maybe you want to speak, maybe you want to speak at a conference, maybe you want to start a podcast, maybe you want to write a book. Right? These are all areas in your life that you can be focused on. So I would encourage you, over the next, you know, six weeks or so, right before the new year starts, next 30 days to really focus on stepping on the gas. Because right now people are starting to pump the brakes. They’re going to start pumping the brakes. Because why not? Right? We’re going to relax. Thanksgiving just took place. Christmas is coming up. New Year’s is coming up. And look, I get it. I’m all down with Christmas, all down with New Years and Thanksgiving, like some of my favorite times and some of my best memories have been around this time. But at the same time, I’m a true believer that it doesn’t mean that you step on the brakes, right? You don’t just decide, hey, I’m going to stop working out as much like double your workouts can, like, work out on Christmas Day, work out on on Thanksgiving, right? Work out on New Year’s Day, right? This isn’t a time to say, Okay, I’m just going to continue these bad habits until January one. Start now, because most of the people are going to start stepping on the brakes, and this is where you need to pump the pedal right. This is where you need to step on the gas. This is where you need to step on the throttle. And so I would, I would encourage you, and I want to challenge you to continue to just break that old shell and do it now, because there’s no reason to wait. There’s no reason to just. Have that conversation and excuse in your in your brain to say, You know what, I’m gonna wait until, you know, January one. I’m gonna enjoy this food. I’m gonna eat the cake. I’m gonna, you know, eat bad. I’m gonna be lazy, I’m gonna sit on the couch. I’m gonna, you know, slow down to my workouts. Everybody’s doing it. I’m gonna go spend money, maybe that I shouldn’t spend. I’m going to go to these places that maybe I shouldn’t go. I’m going to have, you know, too much to drink or whatever it is like, why not look at this opportunity to say, while the entire world is retracting, and maybe that’s your competition. Maybe it’s your competition with yourself, right? Maybe it’s, it’s you wanting to be a leader and showing others, whether it’s in your family or in your practice, that hey, now is when we are going to crank it out, right? And I’ll give you guys an example. So, you know, I run a company, growth 99 you know.com, I don’t talk about it a ton on the podcast, because we don’t want to advertise it. This is about value to you guys, but me as the leader, I am leading the team right now as hey now is the time when we step on the gas, when that comes to software development, when it comes to sales, marketing, content creation, when it comes to just creating wonderful culture and synergy. We are meeting more often. We are exchanging more emails, we are talking more we are sending text messages. We are communicating like there is this vibrant synergy and energy that is taking place right now in my company. And everybody can feel it, right. Everybody can feel it. And I know that there is a ton of, let’s just we have competition. There’s competition out there that is like, oh, you know, we’re just gonna chill. We’re gonna, you know, wind it down a little bit. I’m gonna go on vacation. I’ll be gone for a couple weeks, like, you know, I saw good they’ll be deals, you know. And I’m like, No, that’s not the mindset we are. We want to step on the gas because this is fun. We want to show others that we are here to the finish line and then pump right through the finish line of January one, January two, January three, like we didn’t skip a beat, right? And I want to you to also embrace that in your in your personal life as well. So wherever that there’s challenges in your personal life, whether it’s a relationship with a spouse, maybe it’s not going so well due to whatever, if it’s financial, if it’s nutrition, well, whatever it is, right? Like, take the time to sit back, ask hard questions with the spouse. Like, get on the same page. You know, start the new year off with a bang. Have a plan now so you can execute January one, right? Implement that on your personal life. You know, maybe it has to do with your kids. You know, spend more time with them understand exactly, you know what, what it’s going to take to build that bond. Right? If you feel like you’re disconnected, every once in a while, I feel like I’m disconnected with my kids, because, you know, the world is just changing so fast, and so right now, I’m really, really trying my hardest to just spend more time with my kids and just admire who they are and what they’re doing, and understand what they’re going through. So you can just, like, really build that connection, you know. And as practice owners, talk to your staff. Is it time to hand out some bonuses? Can you hand out bonuses? Is it time to build new commission structures? Have one on one with your staff, go to them and say, how is your year? You know, what can I do to make 2024 better for you? You know, show them that you care about them, that you value because I’m telling you, the staff that runs the practice is the backbone behind the productivity is the backbone behind all the stuff that practice owners don’t necessarily want to do right? A lot of administrative work, for example, maybe it’s ordering inventory, receivables, going through the financials like, there is a lot going on with running a practice. And so it’s time to give gratitude and thanks, and really just have those one on ones with team members, right, evaluate your systems. What systems do you currently have? Are they becoming you know, are there? Is the companies that you’re working with staying innovative, staying up with trends? Are they falling behind, right? Are they becoming more legacy systems? There’s a lot of tools out there that I see becoming legacy, because this industry is moving so fast. Is it time to look at processes? Maybe you have too many pieces of tech. Maybe you have a tremendous amount of feature overlap, right? There is a ton of fragmentation in this world, and so I think it’s super important to really take the time to look at what tools you have. What marketing are you doing? Do you currently have a marketing strategy? Do you have a marketing calendar, right? How many times, are you posting on social media, right? Do you you’ve always wanted to create a podcast, for example, but now is the time to do it. Start building out your episodes. Start building out, you know, go get the equipment that you need. It’s not expensive, expensive to start this stuff, you know, like, everybody has a voice, and it’s important to share that, right? And so, you know, I just encourage. You during this, this season, if you will, the season of Breaking your old shell like now it’s time to really hunker down on your your body, your nutrition, you know, everything when it comes to your mental health and really, just like you know, take notes of how your 2023 went. Did you live up to your expectations? Right? And I can tell you right now, I hope everybody says no, because I always feel like like we’re never going to live up to our expectations of who we want to become, because we’re always growing and we’re not sure what we are truly capable of, especially if you look back like in previous years, you know, if you look at your life five years ago versus today, I hope you’re a completely different person. You know, it’s kind of funny when people say, you know, if you’ve seen a friend that you haven’t for a while, and they’re like, you’ve changed, you know, you’ve changed. Like, yeah, I hope I’ve changed. I hope I’ve changed for the better, unless it’s changed for the worse, that’s not the path you want to go down. But you know, if I’ve had that happen to me, man, you’ve changed, well, yeah, damn right. I’ve changed, right? Because I’m focused on becoming that next version of myself and focusing on productivity, profitability and just where I can enhance my myself, my life, my family, my business, those types of things. And so, you know, there’s, there’s a lot of other areas that I want to talk about and focus but you know, a lot of times, you know, show me your friends and I’ll show you your future, right? Are you hanging out with the right friends? Are you spending time with the right people? Are you absorbing the right content? Right? When you are working out, are you listening to music, or are you listening to content? You know, have you got off track? Have you brought in some, some bad habits, maybe that you need to ditch, right? And so if you are spending, you know, time with some friends that maybe they shouldn’t be in your inner circle, you know, maybe they’re a time suck. Maybe they’re holding you back from you really expanding where you want to go, right? And so take inventory of that stuff.

right? Another one is show me your calendar, and I’ll show you your future. How busy are you? Are you only booked around? Patience is that the only time you schedule? Do you schedule family time? Do you schedule the you know, Kid time, one on one, time with your kids? Spouse time, date night? Is that scheduled? Like a lot of times I’ll pull up a calendar, and if I see white space it it means you, you do not have a plan, right? You do not have a plan. If you if you haven’t educated yourself on time management, I would encourage you to go read one of Dr Stephen Covey’s books time management. It’s a wonderful book. It’s a book I read early on in my career, and it changed my life forever. And it really talks about daily planning, weekly planning, and how to encompass everything into your day. And so a lot of times like I’ll plan my entire life around like my work scheduled plans around my life, right? And that really helps with mindset, staying on the right track. And so, you know, if you were to look at and again, I’ll pick on myself. I guess if you were to look at my calendar, my calendar starts at 4am and that’s a wake up call, and it almost every half an hour, has a schedule on what I’m doing for the day, and I live and die by that calendar. And that thing keeps me on track, and it makes me feel good. It makes me feel productive, accomplished. And what’s interesting is, by the time like 6pm rolls around and you have 4am all of that time has been booked. It almost feels like like 4am was like a week ago, right? And I feel like that’s also a very powerful way of speeding up time, right? It’s almost like you’re creating time if you have a very robust, thought out plan and calendar. Because I feel like a lot of times if we don’t have that, especially in today’s world, like you get pulled in so many directions. And we have this habit of pulling up our phone and scrolling right. It’s almost like this mental like, oh my gosh, I have to look right. And so if you look at the your screen time on Sundays, I think they send out the report there. The little pop up the notification right? It shows you and shows you what apps that you’ve been looking at and how long, you know, take inventory of that, make some change, you know. And so like having that planned out calendar is going to be super important. I think that that would be a wonderful exercise for people to do during, you know, this, breaking your old shell season. Another one would be, show me your money habits, and I’ll determine your bank account, right? So, what are your money habits? What are your spending habits? Are you like? Go back and look at your Amazon purchases. Go through your credit card statement. What are you purchasing? I would bet, you know, over 50% of the items that have been acquired on those statements were things that you didn’t need, right? There are things that you actually didn’t need. They were probably, you know, impulse buys. They were probably, you know, things that you could have lived without. There’s a good exercise out there if, if you just if you want something really bad, and you wait 24 or 48 hours and go back and revisit it, like nine times out of 10, you’ll find yourself saying, you know, I don’t, I don’t need that. So there’s a lot of impulse out there, right? That’s why they put all of those little items at the checkout stand at the grocery stores. You know, it’s just those last little grabs of where they can sell you that one last thing, right? The gum, the candy, the Diet Cokes right at the front, right there, right? We’ve all done it. I’ve done it. Shoot right? And so, you know, show me your money habits. I’ll determine your bank account. It’s so true, like have discipline and accountability over your finances. You know, are you saving enough? Are you putting enough aside, you know, to just put into a savings account that can be pushed into a brokerage account, you know, to create a return on capital. You know, I’m not an investment advisor by any means, but you know, the money markets paying 5% right now, yeah, it’s a pretty good return and a pretty good place to put your capital. And if you really take inventory on where you’re putting your capital, right now, you can see how much you’re wasting, right so if you did some basic math, let’s say, in the last year, if you did an inventory of all your statements, for example, in the last year, you spent $25,000 on just maybe things you really didn’t need and you could very much live without. If you take that $25,000 and you apply a 5% return to it, right, you guys can do the math on that right. 10% would be 2500 bucks. 5% would be 12 150 bucks. You know that’s $1,250 more in your bank account, you know that you could have put and so, you know, I don’t want to make this about a financial discussion by any means, but take inventory of your money habits. You know, another one that I want to talk about is show me when you wake up and I’ll predict your day. You know, can you get up an hour earlier? Have you done that? The mathematical equation on waking up one hour earlier over the course of a year. It’s obviously 365 days in most years, right? With that leap year, right? So imagine how much more you can get done with that hour. Is it that workout that you keep telling yourself you can’t get done? Is it that daily planning? Is it that thing that you’ve just been putting off because, oh, man, it’s just that task that, just like, won’t get off your task list, but you never want to get it done. Could you have got it done? Right? If there’s certain things that, is it, like an educational course? Is it? Is it starting something that’s going to help change your life? Right? Is it meditation? Is it cold plunge? That’s a big one that’s been going on lately, right? Is it? Is it taking a walk, gratitude, reading a book, like, what is it? You could change your life by waking up an extra hour earlier, right? And so and you can also predict your day, because studies show that those who get up earlier are much more successful and they get things done. I mean, I’m an early riser. I’ve been an early riser for a long time, and I remember the life that I had before I woke up earlier. Like there was a time where I would wake up, I want to say,
All right, I want to say it was maybe 15 years ago, 12 to 15 years ago. You know, I would probably get up about seven, 730 maybe something like that. And, you know, that’s early, I guess, right. But I mean, I get up at 4am now, so 4am to 730 that’s three and a half hour difference. That’s literally like a half day’s work. Big, big change. So take that three and a half hours and times that by 12 years, I’ve literally just created, like another entire life for myself, right? And I can look back on what I achieved prior to that to what I’ve achieved now. It’s night and day, and I talk to other entrepreneurs, other practice owners, other people that have had success, and all of them have that. Habit of waking up early because they know exactly what it does to their life. Most of them are also into fitness as well, right? So waking up early, hitting fitness, getting their mind right. You know, everything that I need to do in order to have a very productive day. Okay? Another one I want to talk about is show me what you eat, and I can predict your body. Okay, show me what you eat, and I can predict your body. Like, it’s so true. It’s if you’ve ever counted your calories, right? If you guys have, there’s, there’s apps out there where you can, you know, you can track your calories, you can track your protein intake, you can track your carbohydrate intake, like you can track all this stuff, and there’s actually formulas based off of your weight, where, if you do track this stuff, it’s actually quite easy to become physically fit with not a ton of exercise and a ton of cardio, right? There’s a lot of fitness coaches out there that I’ve actually hired that have created these courses, and most of them are around nutrition, and they talk about, wow, these people are putting in so much cardio, but they’re not eating correctly and not taking a log, an inventory log, of what’s putting in their body. And they’re wondering why they can’t lose the belly fat, right? And so, like, that’s interesting stuff as well. So maybe this is the time of when you want to break your old shell. That’s like, you know what? I’ve always wanted this body. I’m working out hard, but I just don’t get it. Maybe it’s a time to hire a fitness coach or a nutrition coach, right? And have the body that you’ve always dreamed of, right? Because if you take accountability, and you’re really drive into something, that’s what’s going to put you in the position to see the result time and time again, right? It’s just like, why you’re a practice owner, or why you work at a practice or want to become a practice owner, right? It’s all of those things that you did continuously, time and time and time and time again in order to open up a practice, run a successful practice, and all the effort that you put in. Imagine if you put that into your nutrition, right? You would have the body of your dreams, right? It’s just if you have the practice of your dreams, the practice that you want to your dreams, and you’re putting in the effort with discipline, it’s just going to happen over time if you if you repeat that cycle, okay, another one I want to talk about is, show me your faith, and I can predict your values, right? What is your faith? What are your family values? Do you have a family mission statement? Right? If you don’t have a family mission statement, this might be a great time to create one right? Mouse may sounds a little corny or whatever. I don’t know, but why not have one companies have mission statements? Why not have a family mission statement that you guys live in and breed by right? Something that is strong within you and your spouse, your kids and so you can always fall back on, hey, that doesn’t, that doesn’t that doesn’t really work with the family mission statement. That’s kind of outside of our core values, right? And so I think having like a really good inventory of your faith can predict your future values and then really showcase you know your kids, your spouse, you know all of your leadership around the type of person you are, and that’s going to level everybody up for you to continue to lead. Okay? Another one I want to talk about is show me your good and bad habits, and I can predict your relationships. Do you have bad habits? We all have bad habits, right? How bad are your bad habits? You know? And so as you look at your bad habits, are there certain things that you can just like, you know, ditch out. I know that there’s things in my life I can totally get rid of. It’s almost like I feel like I need that thing, right? Like I need that thing, but I know it’s something that I can get rid of. And so, like, that’s going to be a challenge for me over the next, you know, four weeks before the new year is to really take inventory of my bad habits. You know, what are the bad habits? And, I mean, you really have to think on this one, you know, you have to get granular. You have to get really deep. What are my bad habits? Is there anything that I can give up that’s going to enhance my lifestyle and enhance who I am? You know, maybe it’s a specific drink that you like, you know that you’re like, oh, man, I just have to have that drink. You know, not, not even alcohol related. Maybe it’s a Diet Coke. Maybe give up Diet Coke. I when we all know it’s not healthy for us, right? And so, like, by the way, I love Diet Coke. So, you know, I get that one. But you know, there’s, there’s these habits, these just these small habits that that we can get rid of, you know, that we can take inventory of, but if we don’t reflect, we don’t look at that stuff, you know, take inventory and accountability of it. We’re never gonna break from that shell, right? Break from that old shell, you know. And then on the flip side of that, what are your good habits? Do you work on them? Often? No. Do you have kind of good habits. Do you have good habits sometimes, you know, start doubling down on those good habits. You know, you don’t just want to have good habits every once in a while. We want to have good habits all the time, right? And so, you know, as we just finish off this year, guys, I’m going to encourage you all step on the gap. Gas. Don’t pump the brakes. Don’t retract while everybody’s retracting. Leap the pack. Let everybody else step on the brakes. Let them step on the brakes while you step on the gas. Right? Leap. And if you continuously do this, there’s, there’s lots of other, you know, breaking your old shell seasons, if you will. You know, summer is one of them, but this is the biggest one. This is where everybody retracts and just chills, right? And this is where you can just leap everybody. And I’m also talking about yourself leaping yourself right. And then, as you look back January one, January one isn’t when you start, you know, start December one, start December one. And so you hit the ground running January one. Like Christmas that. I mean, Christmas was great, and obviously, be present there with the friends and family. But like, wow. Like, you know, for me, I mean, there’s been many years that I’ve woken up, I have two daughters, but I’ve woken up before Santa came, if you will, before and gotten some work done. I mean, and I may be extreme, I made an extreme example, but you know, there’s been times where, you know, I wake up early because, shoot, I know, if I don’t get it done, it’s, not going to happen, you know, like, last thing you want to do is be working on, you know, Christmas day in the office, when kids are open up presents like that. That doesn’t work very well, right? And so I would just, like, I just want to leave it at that, guys, I want you to, just as you go through this season, I want you to focus on breaking your old shell. And let’s start off 2024 with a bang. And let’s have an amazing practice, an amazing family, an amazing relationship with all of the ones that we love that surround ourselves. And let’s go win. Let’s have a wonderful rest of 2023 and let’s go kill it 2024 together. Thank you so much, guys. I appreciate your time again. This is Cameron medical millionaire. If you love this stuff, please share it. Let’s keep the conversation going until next time happy injecting you.
