Thank you for joining us. I really appreciate it. So talk to us. I want to know a little bit about you as as an injector, you as a person, like stepping into this world, right? It’s you go through all this training, like you’re trained on how to do all the techniques that I could never do. So bless your guys’s heart for, like, having the ability, and, you know, the tenacity, to do everything that you guys do, but stepping into, like, the entrepreneurial side of it, right? Because you’re taught everything from a you know anatomy to you know how to do the technique, and now you’re in the business world. So talk to us about that journey. The audience would love to hear it, and then we’ll see. I want to know where your next steps are, sure.
So I graduated nursing school with my bachelor’s about six years ago, always with the hopes of being an esthetic nurse. When I first started out after school, I did start in a hospital on a cardiac floor. When then I completed my training, so basic neurotoxin and filler, and then advanced neurotoxin and filler, that was about five years ago, about two months after that. So December of 2019, I launched my business angel face injections, which is in Boston. I rent space at Van sanity, which is a cloud Med Spa in Boston, and I’ve just slowly grown my business since then, training with top plastic surgeons, nurse practitioners, other physicians, I’ve gone to Europe and done trainings there, and really just leveled up my business on All aspects, which I did do by myself completely until last month, when I came home with growth 99 to really just level up my marketing. It was just getting a lot for me to manage the patients and then also my marketing side of the business. So it’s been a really great experience so far. Awesome,
awesome. Well, thank you for that. Um, I really appreciate it. So I want to talk about one of the areas that you like. It sounds like, you know, obviously, you’ve been in this space for a while, and you take it upon yourself to educate yourself from a technique standpoint, right? So being trained under plastic surgeons or, you know, industry leaders even traveling overseas to learn the techniques over there, like talk to us, how important is that? How important is that to understand these techniques? Because if you’re not good at your craft, then, you know, what’s the point of everything else? Right? It’s the
most important thing. Truly, I think it’s kind of a misconception that you take this one class and all of a sudden you’re an injector, because that’s not it, and it’s not safe, mostly, but also, the industry is always evolving. There’s always new techniques, and the industry can be over saturated, and that’s a huge way to set yourself apart from the other providers is providing the newest techniques, the safest techniques. And you’re never going to do that if you don’t continue with your education, especially the US is behind in the esthetics industry. I’m from Boston. It’s really. Leave behind in Boston. So it’s important for me to leave the area to really learn new things, to bring back to my clientele. Safety is my number one priority. I’ve done cadaver labs with plastic surgeons, which is really cool. I definitely recommend that to any injector before you start injecting especially advanced techniques in areas of the face and body, totally
right? And I appreciate that so much, because I think that a lot of times there’s this misconception out there that is, you know, you can pull up your Instagram, your Tiktok, your Facebook, whatever, and you could see, you know, what’s taking place. You can see success in the industry, right? And you could see the industry grow. You know, I’ve been in the esthetic space since shoot 2020 15, obviously, not from a doctor standpoint, but from a business, educational standpoint, and speaking and traveling around and talking with, you know, doctors and injectors and nurse practitioners for for many years, but you see this level of like, this social media, let’s just call it success or happiness, or, you know, like this, this uh huh moment. And I think, like, there’s this misconception that’s like, okay, yeah, I can go take this weekend course, and now I’m a certified let’s call an injector For, example, right? Depending on whatever state, whatever compliance there is, it changes throughout, you know, I don’t want to go down that road, but there’s this. There’s this just a social media thought where you can go do that, and all of a sudden you’re going to have this thriving business, you know, you take the weekend course, starting Monday, like things are going to explode. And I think, you know, really, it just makes sense for the audience to understand like you have to continue to educate yourself like and not only on the skill sets, not only on the craft, but also on how to run your practice like a business, right? So, so what I I’m so glad that you brought that up. And if you were to look at where you’re going to be, you know, two years, three years, five years, 10 years from now, you know, I’m sure you’re going to continue to go to cadaver left. You’re going to continue to learn, right? Like, it doesn’t stop now, right? It never ends. Is that? Is that a fair assessment? Yeah, yeah. And I think, like, you know that, what the most I would say the practice owners that I’ve, I’ve talked with and got to know over the years, the ones that I’ve seen have tremendous success. They are always talking about education. They’re always talking about how to level up on their craft, their skill set, and then also, you know, how to run their practice like a business. And so I really appreciate you said that I want to pivot for for a second. And I want to talk about van sanity and in cloud, it’s cloud med spot, right? They, I think they changed their name, yeah, I want to talk about that. I love the concept. I know Shannon over there, like she’s done, like, really cool stuff. Talk to me about that experience, because I think there’s a lot of value in conveying to the audience of what that opportunity looks like. And I think it’s a great way to take some, you know, let’s call it exposure from a financial standpoint, off the plate. So that would be interesting to hear about,
if you could. Yeah. So it’s an amazing concept, especially for any injector, but especially for a starting injector. So you’re starting your business, and you have to worry about so much, and then on top of it, you’re gonna have to worry about getting a space and buying the products, and know the inventory you need to have, and pay monthly rent. This kind of takes a lot of that out of it, because you rent by the hour. So when I first started, I wasn’t going there much at all, but I wasn’t wasting money on a monthly rent I went. When I went, I paid for it. They had all the inventory there. I was able to grab what I need. So that really took a lot out of it, plus the support. So they have other injectors there. So when you’re a new injector, you have other people around to help you. God forbid something happened, you know, I’ve had patients that have passed out in the middle of procedures, and it’s nice to have people around there. And then also they have the support in every aspect. They are always hosting continuing education. They have the devices there if you wanted to use, like the laser devices, micro needling, cool sculpting, true sculpting. It’s really nice. And they also have a lot of connections in the industry. So if you did want to get trained on something else, they know the person for that. If you wanted to find a marketing team, they know the people for that. So they kind it’s really good collaboration, and I’ve made a lot of injector friends being there, which is really important in the industry to be a nice community.
Yeah, no, that’s. Yes, that’s awesome to hear. And so okay, let me just see if I could explain this back. So essentially, cloud Med Spa has a concept that is, essentially it takes, like it makes your job easy. Is that right? Like you show up business side, yes, you use what you need to use. You have your patients meet you there. So it’s like a physical, obviously physical location, where you have all the equipment there, and you just go in there, and you rent the equipment. And I don’t know all the details, but it sounds like it’s like, show up, do the appointment and and they kind of handle the rest for you. Is it just makes it super easy, super
easy. So you handle your own clientele, your own payments from your clients, everything like that. You literally just show up, treat your client, and leave and come back whenever you want to come back. You can go anytime, any hours. There’s someone at the front desk, there’s all the supplies you need, there’s drinks, there’s snacks, everything, and it’s, I know you’ve never been there, but it’s a beautiful location, right in Kenmore Square in Boston. Super clean, super nice.
I think they’re opening up locations all around the country too. Is that, right? Yes,
they open in Dallas, and I think they have plans to open some more. Okay,
okay, cool. It’s almost like, it’s almost like I can go, like, build the gym, like in the garage or the or the basement, which I know has been popular over the past couple of years, but or this example, I could just go to the gym, rent the equipment, leave, right? Yeah, yeah, that sounds amazing. So okay, so there’s a lot of people that are in the audience that are thinking about getting into the space, or they may be in a situation to where, hey, you know what, this may be a good alternative route for me. So would they go to, is there cloud, med, spot.com, is that a good place for them to go? I think that’s the
URL. Yes, I think ours van sanity, but Shannon and Ciro are the contacts there. I talked to Ciro the most, because he’s in Boston, and he’s the absolute best. He will answer any time of the day or night, any problem question you have, he’s there.
That’s so great. Yeah, he sounds like he got great support there. And so when, if you know, for the folks that are listening, if you guys want more information on that, we’ll give you Jenny’s information, her handle on Instagram. Maybe you can DM, or, if you guys are more or you can obviously just Google Cloud meds, but I’m sure to find the URL there. But you brought up a good point.
Have a mentor too. So, yeah, that’s
another thing. Yeah, yeah. So, and you brought up a good point that that’s actually leans in exactly what I want to ask you. So you are, you’ve now also, not only do you have a place to go to and and kind of take, like, you know, some of the, some of the exposure off your plate, if you will, but you also have been able to to network and and to really build a community within injectors. And so talk to us about that experience, because I bet that’s been pretty, pretty neat, maybe from a referral standpoint, a technique standpoint, like, talk to us about that. It’s
really cool to be able to just collaborate with people. So everybody has different every injector there has different backgrounds. They might be RN and P A physician, a PA, whatever. But we all have different training and different backgrounds. So it’s nice you see someone there and you’re like, oh, when you do this procedure, what’s your favorite product to use? Or some people do treatments that I don’t offer. So sometimes I’ll ask people about IV therapy, or then I have someone to refer my I don’t do IV so I have someone to refer my clientele to. But then it’s just nice. You can go to events with these people that you network and become friends with, and you’re all a part of the same community. And I never feel competition there. I always feel supported and like I have made a lot of friends.

Yeah, awesome. That’s great. I mean, and that’s like, I talk about networking all the time and how important it is. And, you know, I’m a big fan of going to conferences. I have met so many great people at these conferences. I have learned so much myself. I mean, you know, there’s other vendors there that that could potentially, you know, have competition with with the company that I do. We’ve become great friends, you know, because you learn to become a community, and so, like, what I’m getting at, guys is, if you’re not networking, if you’re not going to conferences, if you’re not going to cadaver labs, if you’re not like, joining some of these academies. Please, please do so, because it’s only going to make you a better business person, a better injector, like whatever you’re doing, from from a skill set standpoint, it’s going to enhance that, right? So it’s, it’s, I wouldn’t be where I am today if, if I didn’t surround myself with good community either. So I totally, I love that, that, you know, you have that opportunity there. Okay, so let’s talk about marketing for a minute. Because I know, like being in the space marketing is is huge, right? And, you know, I mean, there’s so many things to do, it’s almost like how it’s I think marketing, marketing is like the most demanding thing in this space. It’s, you have to post on Instagram, you have to post on Tiktok, you have to post on Facebook. You have to run like Facebook ads, Instagram ads. You have to have a website, you have to have SEO, you have to have Google reviews, you have to have a Google page. You have to run Google ads. You have to do blog posts, you have to send emails. You have to send text message like, What are you talking about? How do you handle that? Because it’s a big task. It’s tall order.
It’s a lot more than I expected when I started. I just kind of feel like, oh, I made an Instagram. Okay, I’m done. I have a business now. That’s not the case whatsoever, and it’s kind of evolved over time. So it started small with just my Instagram, but I’ve grown it exponentially. Over the past few few years. I have almost 5000 followers, and that was all organic growth. And I’ve had like, a couple clients who have made tiktoks, that one I didn’t even know about, and it went viral, and that was huge for me, but my friends were just sending it to me, and they’re like, oh my god, Jenny, this is you. And I was like, Wait, I didn’t even know she took a video.
So really cool things like that.
I’ve done all my Instagram and all that myself, and then emails, text messages, Google reviews, I’ve done that. It’s where it gets to like the website and the SEO that you kind of lose me. I like makeshift learned how to edit my website prior to hiring growth 99
literally from chat, GPT, so
thank you, AI,
but it only goes so far. And that was definitely the hardest part of my business. For me, is the business side. So I’m good with like the injection. Seeing my clients, actually performing the procedure, is very comfortable. My comfort zone ends with the marketing. Other than Instagram, I’ve managed to be able to do myself, but the SEO and all of that is a lot of work and very hard to really sit down and learn what you need to do. Yeah,
no, you’re exactly right. I mean, like, as as the practice grows, right? Like, there’s these phases, okay, cool. I’m going to make the decision to get into this industry. Great. Now I have to learn that technique, and then all of a sudden, like, clients come revenue builds. You have the growth phase. You’re posting, you’re learning stuff. Like, who would have thought you’d ever, you know, take the time to want to learn how to build a website, right? Like, as an entrepreneur and business owner, it just, it just kind of happens. And then, you know, you probably get to a point where you’re like, Oh my gosh. Like, am I gonna work every single hour of every single day? Or, like, where should I be focused my time on? Right? And I think, like, you know, that’s that brings up a, an interesting point where things should start being delegated to industry experts that can support the growth you know, such as you, you know, on the weekends or whatever. Like spending time on SEO because you’re, you know, visiting with patients during the day, you know, like that. That was that, like a thought in your, in your mind that said, Okay, no, I need to. I need to have someone kind of take this over, because I know my time is more valuable spent working in this area as a practice is that, would you say this, right? Yeah,
absolutely. I realized that there’s just, like, one too many things on my plate. I’m in school. Well too for my master’s senior nurse practitioner. So I have that on my plate too. So I it was really, I did a lot of research, and it was really important for me to bring on a company that just did medical esthetics. Is super important to me. I’m like, very type A and the way I teach my patients things is how I want my website to reflect I don’t. I didn’t want it like a cookie cutter website, like you Google what is Botox, and then that’s what’s on my website. It’s very important to me to have my voice on there. So giving up control is kind of hard, but honestly, it’s been fantastic. And if I have like, one little edit and I send it to my product project manager, it’s done that day within an hour. So it’s been really, really great experience.
Awesome, awesome. I mean, you’ve done a great job in terms of saying, okay, like, you know, going towards the cloud Med, spa experience, I’m sure, is like, taken so much off your plate, outsourcing some of the marketing to an industry you know, expert that understands it, such as growth. 99 has taken a lot off your plate, and now you can focus on what matters most. And so I’m just curious, as you continue to analyze the practice, is there other areas that you have delegated or hired an expert or outsourced, like financials, is something that’s like important to you, right? So, or you talk to us about talk to us about that. Are you handling everything yourself? Is through those avenues? Yes. So
mostly everything I do do by myself. I am lucky that my boyfriend, he does accounting stuff that I have to. I don’t have to pay anyone to do that, but do have it off my plate somewhat or more. So he teaches me what to do. So I do know how to that’s important to me too. I like to know how to do things myself. If I had to do something myself, I don’t want to just brush it off and then not think about it at all. I still like to have some control over these things so I can grow myself. I went to school to be a nurse. I did not go to school to do business. So learning all of that was on top of learning injection techniques is kind of a lot, but necessary. For
sure, you made me think, like, because I’ve worked on business like, my whole, my whole life. Like you could ask me, I’m not a certified, you know, financial advisor, CPA, or business coach, or any means. Maybe some could call me a business coach, I’m not sure, but yeah, like, I’ve been working in business for, for, like, my whole life, in terms of accounting, P, L, balance sheet, like, how things like, you know, the funnel happens from marketing to cost per lead to conversion ratios. Like, that’s just like my second nature, if you ask me, okay, Cam, now you got to go get your Masters and become a nurse practitioner and eventually PhD or something. I’m like, No way. Like, so that is like, No, I’m not, that’s not happening. But you, you are doing that. You are doing marketing
is a whole other language. Like, what you’re talking right now? I’m like, Yeah, I know some of these words you’re saying, but then you also,
yeah, those just fly out of my mouth, right? But like, if you were to talk to me about anatomy, I would be like, well, Haley, yeah, I’ve learned. Like, okay, so the marketing world and terminology for what you know, that’s what I know about anatomy. Like, even, like, I’ve been in the space for so long, it’s just terms that I’m like, I’ve never heard that word before.
It’s cool to learn the new things. Then you have like, random facts, you know, like, my sister says it all the time, because my mom and I are nurses, and she’ll listen to us talk, and then she’s like, Now, sometimes I just have these random facts that I don’t really know what they mean, but I know them.
Okay, so talk to us about where you go from here. You’re getting your masters. You’re established. You have great followers, organic followers. You’ve had videos that have gone viral. You have a marketing company that’s helping you. Like, where are you going if you were to map out, like, road map your practice journey from from here you’re in the growth phase, is what I would as, what I would put you in. I’m sure you’re getting new clients all the time and referrals and all that fun stuff. Where do you go from here? Like, break it down into the next year and then the next three years? I’d love to hear your plan to success.
So this year, I hope, is my biggest growth year so far it has been the past. Well, the first three months of the year have been really great months I was working at the hospital still until the end of January, and I left the hospital then, yeah, so that was a really, really big, amazing step for me. I. And I will finish school in it about a year from now, almost a little over a year. And after that, I do plan on opening my own practice, having my own space, having injectors working under me, being able to host educational events at my own space. I really do like to train new injectors. It it’s very fun for me, so I hope to be able to do more of that and move more into the mentoring practice and also see my clientele. I love to inject. I never want to walk away from that and just be a business woman, but I do really want to mentor
Awesome, awesome. I love that. I mean, you mapped it out very, very well, and I think it’s a wonderful path. You know, I’ve seen a lot of, let’s call it, other practice owners that are just in different either phases or chapters, whatever you want to call it, in their journey, right? And that’s like, you know, they always want to give back, they always want to help. They always want to, you know, really take people under their wings and and show them new techniques, and then also still inject themselves. Because, hey, you got to advance your skill set. There may be something crazy that comes out in three to five years, right? So, but you made it. You made a comment that I really want the audience to tune in on, because I see it all the time where you’re kind of working part time at the hospital, opening up. This is like the side gig at first, right? Practice starts to grow, and then you have to make a decision, is this going to be a side gig. And I’m gonna, you know, keep my cushion income from the hospital, right? That’s been there for years. It’s comfortable. You go there, you know, it’s there. This is now making, like, your your side business is making income as well, which is amazing. But there’s this point where you have to, like, have this truth conversation with yourself is, am I going to go all in, or is this where I want to be? So what point was that in your mind was from a financial standpoint, when, like, the side, let’s call it the side hustle, surpassed the income from the hospital, or was it just like, hey, if I know it’s going this direction, and if I go all in I know it’s gonna surpass like, very curious to hear your take on that. Yeah,
so I was starting to get a lot of leads of people looking for appointments, and my appointment availability was limited. When I was at the hospital, I was working three nights a week, so overnight. So it limited my hours. I was always tired, and I was my mom said to me, the people who win in life are the ones who take the risks. So I was like, okay, she agrees with me. I think it’s time. So I just did it. And a big thing to me is Life is so short you need to be happy, and I’ve never been happier than doing injections. It truly is what makes me happy. So I knew I needed to give it a try. I know the hospital is always going to need nurses, and that I could always go back if I needed to, but I would never know if I could do my business full time if I didn’t try. Yeah, so I’ve reached the point when I was like, Okay, I have clients trying to book I can’t book them in the timely manner. I’m gonna lose clients. Now is my time. I just need to do it and see what happens. And it’s been great.
Love it. Love it. Words of wisdom from the mom. I love it, the people who went in line for the ones who take risks, I 100% agree. Like, obviously, there’s risk tolerance. There’s you know, like, you got to mitigate that, if you will. But at the same time, if you didn’t do it, then you would never know exactly, and you made a great point, the hospital will always be there, and they’re, they’re always going to be nurses, great nurses, right? So, like, I love that. So for the audience, if you guys are tuning in, you’re thinking about going all in, I don’t know what your situation is like. You know, everybody’s situation is different. But she made a I love that quote, because, like, there’s been so many successful entrepreneurs that have taken the leap, you know, they have, they have gone all in. They’ve bet on themselves. And I think the people who believe in themselves have that confidence and and really, like, bet on themselves are the ones that that do win, are the ones that experience this new path, and new journey and so like Jenny, that’s that’s incredible to hear. Thank you so much for sharing that. Thank you. Okay, so are you gonna go to American Med, spa, the conference in Vegas, or are you, I know you’re super busy with school and your business is taking off.
I’m not sure if I am. Yeah, I. It’s easier for me to go to events closer to Boston, and I have to look like you said on my school schedule, I’m starting to do my clinicals for school. So it’s about to get even busier.
Well, there is a wonderful cadaver lab course in your area that I went to last year, we were a sponsor. Dr Gretchen Freeling puts it on. It’s called Face it, live, if you know her, we know her, yeah, so we’re gonna go this year. It’s, it’s in your neck of the woods, face it, live.com, or.org one of those two. If, yeah, check it out, and because I’d love to meet you for sure. Yeah, okay, well, thank you so much. I know that you’re super busy. Thank you so much for taking the time to tune in, and I look forward to meeting with you.
