Here’s your host, expert marketer and founder of Growth ninety nine, Cameron Hemphill. Hey, what’s up guys.
Cameron Hemphill here your host for Medical Millionaire. Thank you so much for taking the time to join the podcast. My goal is to give incredible value and insight for practice owners. So if you guys own a medspa you are thinking about opening up a medspa, this podcast is one hundred percent designed for you.
And all of the other episodes that I have created previously, you can always get value from those, so i’d encourage you guys to go tune in if you have not already. I want to make sure that every single episode that I create is building wonderful content that you can tune into and get golden nuggets and really put yourself in a position to be a cutting edge practice and create profits for you, your team, your family, and really creates something special that you can either sell or you can pass down to whoever you would like, whether that’s a team member or family member or whatever your exit strategy is. So that being said, I want to jump into something that has been on my mind lately and is not talked about enough, and it’s really interesting. Actually, it’s all about creating content.
But we are creating content on all the same channels, which is fine because your audience hangs out on a lot of the channels that we’re creating content on. Right, the most amount of content that I see created in this space is on Instagram, and Instagram is definitely creating the most engagement. It’s creating the most views, the most shares, the most attribution, the most inquiries. Right, A lot of you have done a great job of building out your profiles and your call to action, and you’re using link trig your biosite, you’re pushing people to your website, your booking page, you know, and you’re doing a great job.
Some practice owners are doing better than others. Of course, they have better frequency in their postings. They’re more creative in how they’re talking about their practice, their professionalism, their expertise, their humor, their family life. They’re they’re making it more of a social type of engagement and they’re becoming you know, you can see people on video more and more so.
But the thing is is content creative is so much bigger than Instagram. And that’s what I want to hammer home for you guys today is really thinking outside the box. Right, So, practices are opening up all over the place, practices are closing all over the place as well. Like, I’m actually seeing a lot of data where practices are closing, probably because they shouldn’t have opened up in the first place.
They probably didn’t have the right value proposition, the right messaging, the right ICU, like, the right understanding of their demographic or maybe it was just underfunded, or maybe it’s something that they just didn’t want to do. Right, I don’t have the exact, you know, data points on why they’re closing. Also, the economies had a little bit of a pullback as well. But that being said, I’m consistently seeing practices open and so the practice open rate versus close rate is absolutely surpassing the close rate, which is great.
It’s great for our business, it’s great for the industry, it’s great for the practice owner, and it’s great for the patient. Right, patients are loyal and they want to come see their provider, right, they want to build that confidence within themselves. And so, like, it’s a great thing that we are in this industry in space. However, if you are a practice owner and you are consistently thinking that Instagram is your post strategy and your number one engagement strategy, which it may be, and there’s a lot of data to support that, I would encourage you to take the time to look at other ways of creating very unique content where I see a lot of practice owners not taking advantage of it.
And if you look back through history, the practice owners that got on Instagram early, let’s take it like five years ago. The practice owners that hit that platform early and have the right strategy, the right messaging, the right content, the right profile, the right call to action, like, those are the ones that took a t amendous amount of market share from where they are currently based. Right. So, and it’s hard for let’s say you’re a practice owner a MEDSPA that is up and coming, or you’re trying to capture market share from somebody that’s already owns that real estate space and they have that following and they have that word of mouth.
It’s really hard for you to come in and build up a very powerful social strategy that’s going to surpass somebody that’s already crushing it and doing everything correctly, right, So you know, what do we have to do to think outside the box and creating more content? And I’m going to give you a couple of takeaways here where I’m going to give you three and practice owners are just they’re just not doing these things. It’s the whole dark social experience of how you can create content outside of paid strategy. When it comes to Facebook ads, when it comes to Instagram ads, tick talk when it comes to all that stuff, and when it comes to search engine optimization, when it comes to Google pay per click, like, there is an entire missing component and very few practices are doing it. And so I’m going to give you a couple of takeaways now, and so I’ll jump into it.
So the one area that I’m seeing like capture a tremendous amount of search engine optimization results. And you’re probably seeing this as well, and you’ve probably explored it. But I just want you to like take a step outside of the typical places that you post, the typical places that are on your reoccurring calendar, like, Hey, we need to post this much. Here’s our content calendar.
Here’s what we’re doing, here’s what we’re engaging with. And I want you to just take a step back and say, where are we not creating content? Where are we not doing this? And one of the areas that I’m going to tell you right now that I’m not seeing any content being created, but is creating a ton of search engine results space on the internet is Reddit. Reddit is amazing at what they’ve done in building out these these groups and these communities. And you can go in there and you can build out a profile and you could create a whole entire community around everything that you offer.
Right, so your expertise, your services, like you can create in a way that’s just giving education and giving value. And So what I would do if I was a practice owner, and let’s say I’m in let’s say I’m in Tampa, Florida, for example, I would go, I would create a Reddit account, and in my Reddit account, I would call it something like Tampa Florida Medical Aesthetics and Wellness something like that. That is an insights, right, It’s almost like insights like tips tricks, insights. I wouldn’t go there, and I wouldn’t just start selling your brand and your name.
I would start creating content around expertise, content around like building confidence and almost creating a community of why going to a medspa is important for the soul? Right, it’s important for that the confidence. Like I bet there’s data out there that shows that people that visit medical asthetics practices and get services and treatments done, they probably make more income. Like that would be a cool data point to see, like when somebody was started going to a practice regularly, like what their household income level was after they started going to a practice, right, because think about it like that, when someone’s walking around with confidence, they feel better, they speak better, they communicate better, you know, they hold themselves accountable, They’re more disciplined. It’s interesting what happens.
It’s almost like the same concept as going to the gym. I can literally tell you, like I’ve always worked out my whole entire career, but there was a time about twelve years ago where I started taking it dead serious. I started to get waking up super early, going in the morning, and I haven’t stopped, Like it’s something I just have to do. My lights don’t turn on if I don’t go, and I can literally tell you my income level has gone up dramatically post that discipline.
Then pre that discipline, right, I would kind of go to the gym, but it just changes you. And I know there’s something that happens mechanically with inside the brain and who you see yourself in the mirror and how you walk after you really invest in confidence, right, and so like I would create a feed, a local community feed around that, because you’re not trying to create a community feed unless you have like you know, like an academy or something like that where you want to draw people in nationally. If it’s mainly for like your localized area, I would create it just like demographic it right around that specific area, and then I would go to chat GPT and I would come up with all sorts of like ideas that I could connect with the community, and then I would go to Instagram and I would pull those people in from my current following to Instagram to actually my Reddit feed, and I would start to create content strategies around that and be super consistent. If you do it right, treat it like you would Instagram like all your other profiles you’re on, because if you have to be consistent, you have to be disciplined, right, think about it.
You’re not going to go to your Instagram and post like once this month. If you’re active, you obviously know that’s not going to be effective. It’s the same philosophy here. You can’t go to Reddit and try it once and expect results.
You have to be consistent, have to be disciplined. And I’m telling you, like, Reddit is really interesting. Go to Google right now and conduct a search around, like, ask it a question. Right, Reddit’s going to be like top three in the thread results.
It’s interesting, like how much they’ve come up. And then the other cool thing I found out is you can actually launch ads. You can run ads to communities inside I Reddit. So once you build up a specific community or even join another community, you can run ads to that, which I thought was pretty interesting on the paid side.
So again just another way where you know, if you’re a practice owner and you want to maintain market share, or if you want to if you’re coming up and you want to you know, really like look at things at a different angle and capture some cool SEO market share. I would I would really take that serious because it’s definitely doing wonders when it comes to online search. Thank you for listening to Medical Millionaire. Back to the show. The other thing I want to talk about is a podcast.
I recently had Bryce Prescott on one of my podcast episodes and we talked about the value of a podcast. I think like practice owners. They think of it as this is hard, this is challenging. What if I sound funny? What if I look funny? You guys are packed with knowledge, Like just packed with knowledge.
Think about all the education that you’ve gone through, from the clinical side, from going to conferences, from trialing technology, from trialing techniques. What’s worked, what has not worked? Like things that have not worked for you, you know, your failures. Interviewing some clients, Interviewing like colleagues, industry leaders, like key opinion leaders would be very cool. Tell your story, you know, like and why you’re in this space like it is.
I’m telling you. Podcasts are so amazing and every single one of us has a story to tell. And just the amount of education as a practice owner, I mean, my gosh. Like you could go to chat GPT again.
I use chat GPT for like ideas. You can go to it and you could say, hey, like, give me a podcast title for my medspot in this area, you know, and it’ll pump out some ideas and then you could challenge it, Hey, go deeper, give me ten more, whatever you want to do, and then you can kind of like toy with some ideas and come up with your own same thing with episodes too. So if you’re like struggling to come up with an episode a lot of times, like it’s hard after you record so many episodes to really sit down and think about it. You know that that’s a great way to create some some ideas.
So you guys can go just kind of wrap on a podcast and give tremendous value. There’s some cool platforms out there that that I’ve explored. I’ve had my podcasts for a few years now, and I just I really enjoy doing it. It’s something different than you know, just just for me meetings and you know, lots of zoom calls.
I really like seeing people tune in and share and get value because you know, i’ feel like I have a really good advice to share in terms of business and process and finance and marketing and all that stuff. So like you know, just just know that and go into it with confidence and know you’re it’s again, it’s the consistency thing, Like you can’t go create one or two episodes. You have to have a strategy, you have that good messaging, you have to have discipline and accountability and push that stuff out there. And I’ve see some practice owners doing it, and I’ve tuned into some of their content and their episodes.
They’re amazing. Like I’m blown away with what I’m learning Withinside from the clinical aspect, and also like I kind of see their view count going up. And also there’s a way to like tie it back to the website, get some incredible seo, so much stuff you could share on your stories, your reels on Instagram, tie that back to the Reddit feed. So it’s it’s the entire like web of how this stuff is connected, right, which is super interesting and will help with attribution, like completely across the board.
There’s a there’s a tool out there that I recently switched to shout out to Riverside. I have no connection with them. I’m a user. I’m a paying user of the product.
But I’ve tried so many different podcasts platforms, and these guys are doing a really cool job. In fact, you can like go in and you can record and it will slice and dice snippets that you can use, and the snippets can be posted on social and then you could like edit everything with inside the podcast and push it out and you can like upload it to cap cut and you can edit everything. It’s a really cool platform. They have an AI function to it too, so it’ll actually take all of the audio that you record and you can export it to a transcript, So like taking your audio to paper.
Right imagine just in this recording alone, how much content I’m able to spit out through voice. We’re much faster at voice than we aren’t typing and writing. So transcript that push that back to your website. That’s a blog post like right there.
Like it’s an amazing content tool that you guys can push out that is going to give so much value, right, Like imagine just having an episode that was the benefits, miss and downfalls of talks and go wrap on that for half an hour, you know, pull that transcript out and then go post that on your side as a blog. Oh my gosh, like the amount of go put it on the Reddit feed, right, Like, really cool stuff that you guys can get out there in terms of content creative and I think like podcasts or they’re definitely not used enough. There’s a ton of podcasts out there. It’s you know, as you guys know, there’s a lot of different options.
But at the same time, understand your unique selling proposition, understand your audience, understand your messaging and you know, be consistent and you’ll definitely get a following. The other thing too, is that I don’t see enough of is is YouTube, And like this is another area that practice owners are completely missing out on. Like where I see practice owners just always posting as Instagram. It’s Instagram, Instagram, Instagram.
But why are we not doing things different? You know? Like YouTube’s the same thing. I mean, you just go to YouTube, create an account. It’s video, it’s audio, and you could just wrap about a topic, you know, and whatever that topic is, whether it’s educational, whether it’s humor, whether it’s whatever you want it to be. You know, you can grab that YouTube video, you can create it.
There’s so much SEO impact behind it. Create a really cool channel. And then on on the YouTube channels that you guys create, like you know, the amount of content that you can capture on there, the titles on how you create them, and then all the description inside the titles, like you can just pass with great description content and that’s just huge for your SEO strategy. And then like the biggest like takeaways after you pack that in from the YouTube channel, like I would go to your services and treatments page, and I would create a YouTube video for every single one of your services and treatments almost like how to the results, what to expect, you know, like the potential risks, whatever, like those types of things that the user is curious about.
And I would put that those videos in every single one of my service pages, right, you know, and you know, you could knock one of those out per week, and then over the course of you know, you know, like six months, you could probably have all your YouTube videos done around those treatments and services that you guys offer. I don’t see that happening enough. And video is so engaging. I mean, just go look at Instagram, Like the engagement happens on the reels right now, the engagement happening on the stories right It’s it’s really like graphics are kind of fading out like when you’re just go scroll and see what happens and look at your engagement.
So you’re gonna get those same results on Google YouTube, right. Remember Google does own YouTube, right, so they’re going to want to push that stuff up very high on the search engine list. So those are like three areas that I think, and I like every practice owner I see it’s it’s when they think about it, they get overwhelmed because there’s already so much to do. I totally get that.
I actually think being a practice owner is one of the biggest, like one of the most challenging roles out there to hold like yourself of high standards, safety, build patient loyalty, manage a team, manage marketing like it’s a real tall order. Like you guys are hard workers. It’s incredible, you know. But and so it’s like, oh my gosh, I don’t want to use ch GPT you Reddit, Oh my gosh, I don’t want to go to a podcast and YouTube channel.
There’s still time in the day, you know. And I would invest, like maybe slow down a little bit on your Instagram strategy and start, you know, just building up some alternative ways of creating content so you can own that real estate within your local market. It’s going to be super cool. And then once you start unpacking all this content, remember the website’s the home, right, Like that’s home base, and you can funnel all of this stuff back to home base, create like these internal back links and their back links, and it’s just going to like boost your overall attribution efforts from everything that you guys are trying to do to achieve the results that you guys are looking for and continue to scale and grow.
So that was a lot within this quick episode. Guys and we If you, you know, want to talk more about Reddit or YouTube or podcast reach out, I’d love to have some conversations. I think it would be really fun and exciting. But yeah, go go, you know, go get a shot.
You guys could learn yourself obviously online. If you guys found this content, you know this episode valuable, just do me a favorite and share it, like, let’s keep the conversation going. Share it. I love ratings.
If you guys are you know, longtime listeners and you want to give me a rating, I would love that as well. I do this one hundred percent for free at the you know, it’s just my time that I want to put out there and give as much value as I can. So I appreciate you guys. Thank you so much.
