Hey, everybody. Cameron Hemphill, here your host for Medical Millionaire.
Hey, first off, I want to thank you so much for taking the time to listen to our podcast. Our goal is to give incredible value and insight into the medical spa market, the beauty cosmetics industry, anything health and wellness. So when it comes to digital marketing and when it comes to consulting, we work in this space for years. We have clients all over the country. And today, I have a guest that is joining us, and we’re going to walk through her story and her journey. And I want to welcome Danielle Bolden to medical millionaire, Danielle Hey, how are you good? Good?
Thanks so much for taking the time. I really appreciate it absolutely. Yeah, so I want to talk really quick, like, like your story in your journey really stood out to me. And I work with a lot of a lot of folks in this industry that have, you know, create a lot of success, and some that are trying to figure it out, right? And so just with building, I mean, we built three websites for you, and I know that you’ve been in this space for a long time, and a couple different verticals, right? Like being a landlord, like having a medical esthetics business, having taboo and so talk to me just just for a brief moment, like about your story, and then if you could transition into your why? That would be awesome to hear.
Okay, no problem. So, I’m a hairdresser by trade, so started doing hair when I was 18, so 21 years and now and worked for people for about two years, didn’t work for me. So went into my own space, renting a studio in Scottsdale, and realized that all the salon studios that were out there were not esthetically pleasing for the artist of a stylist or anyone in the beauty industry. It was more like very strip mall hospital like hallways and just not really artistic. So you know, after doing hair for 15 years about I decided to purchase a building and create a space for other stylists and people in the beauty industry, for them to have somewhere where their clients can walk in and be proud of to give them, you know, something that was pretty and not just the hallways and rooms.
So in creating an environment, and then, you know, after doing that, I saw the need for a med spa within the building. All of the tenants and all of their clients were already here, so just creating a one stop shop, so having, you know, hair, lashes, makeup, med spa where we can all work together as a team and create an environment where the client feels welcomed and feels like they can come and get everything done in one spot. So, you know, I guess that is, you know, my story, and then the why. And I just, I have a passion for the industry. I love everything about it and where it’s going, and we continue to evolve. And just watching independent stylists and independent people start their own business and walk away from, you know, commission based salons and take on their own journey and take control of their lives and their financial freedoms, so it’s super fun and exciting.
I love that. Um, thanks so much for for sharing that. And I think, you know, the audience that tunes into to this podcast is gonna get a lot of value and insight. Because I think it’s cool that you say, hey, you know, like, I went, I mean, you you’ve been in this space for a long time, and for someone else, and you’re like, okay, like, this isn’t gonna work for me, quickly found out, like, you have an entrepreneurial spirit, and you probably knew that early on, right? Yeah, I’m not sure, but you want to control your time. You want to control your destiny, which, which is super cool. And so you you basically focused on what, what you knew and what you wanted to do.
And then as that evolved, right? Like, as that evolved through time. I call it you. You basically attach yourself to the existing you’re in the space. You saw an opportunity, and you’re like, Okay, well, real estate is exciting, you know? And I can basically create an environment where I can help other entrepreneurs succeed. Right? And also, like, help them control their destiny. So, I mean, I don’t know, it’s just, it’s really inspiring. It’s super cool that you can, you can basically create something, help others, create what they want to do, assist with them.
And then also, when it comes to medical esthetics, it’s like, okay, we can create an environment there own, own, a specific brand, and then scale that at the same time, right? Right, correct? Yeah, I’ve seen that in my inside of my career, too, in the sense of like you have, like you’re in your own space, you’re in what’s comfortable, and then as that entrepreneurial like mindset expands, you see opportunity, right? It’s like that growth mindset, where you’re not just locked into a specific framework. So hats off to you. That’s that’s exciting, and congrats. And I’m sure there’s a lot of entrepreneurs that hang around you that that look up to you, and I’m sure they are excited to have the opportunity to sit with you and connect.
It’s definitely really fun to watch young women come into this space and be really afraid to go out on their own and take that jump. And then, you know, after the first month of being on their own, coming to me and being really excited about what they’re able to take home versus what they were able to take home on a commission, working for somebody else. So it’s really fun.
And the confidence, right? Like, yeah, like, they realize that, oh my gosh, I’m so I’m capable, like, I’m confident, I’m beautiful, I know I know what I’m doing, yeah, and to take that leap and then see it through to success. I mean, that’s like the the American dream and story, which, which is so neat. Okay, I want to transition really quick, because I know that, that, you know we’ve, we’ve talked on the phone a lot. I know you’re, you’re an athlete and and I, and I know that physical fitness, and also like connecting that to the to the mind and energy and and confidence is also something that is important to you, and it’s something that connects with me as well. I’m an early bird, and I, I tend to live in that realm as well. So talk to me just a little bit about about that and how that’s able to position you to just just keep moving.
Fitness is very, very huge for me. I get up at 4am every morning to make sure that I can do it. It keeps my head right. It’s, you know, being physically fit and taking care of, you know, yourself and your body. It also shows a reflection of character, I think, somebody that is committed to taking care of themselves. Most successful people I know are pretty fit or take care of themselves. I think it kind of goes hand in hand, and it just the dedication, you know, being dedicated to yourself and finding that time to make sure you take care of yourself, even in, you know, the crazy world that we live in. And as busy as I am, like I will, you know, I find time for it. I make sure that it’s in my schedule regardless, because if I don’t get it, I’m just not right.
But, you know, feeds the endorphins and just kind of gets my day started, right? But I think it’s just, it’s part of a lifestyle, right? You know, if you are typically take care of yourself, successful, it all again, it goes hand in hand. But, yeah, I’m a huge advocate for, you know, fitness and health and eating right and taking care of yourself. And that’s one of the things I love about, you know, the esthetics world too, not just, you know, injectables and things like that, but, you know, the IVs, the NAD, all the other things that we provide. You know, it’s, it’s wellness as well. It’s not just the esthetic side of it.
Yep, yep. I 100% agree. And I think, you know, you have to, if you’re going to be a business owner, especially in today’s world, you have to be an athlete like you have to train your mind you’re running a successful business, and you have to be physically fit, or else, I feel like there’s, there’s the next person out there that’s just going to be more hungry, right, right? And you have to take care of your body, and you have to take care of your mind and also, also your diet, your habits, and so, yeah, having that morning routine, that ritual, getting your head right for the day, and getting that endorphins, and it wakes you up, you know? I mean, you got me by a half hour.
I get up at 430 and I if, there, if, if a day goes by where I don’t, you know, get my morning session in. I’m, I’m kind of grumpy. I’m honoring. I’m not sharp, you know. And I think that is a huge contribution to success when it comes to entrepreneurship, is beating the sun up, is, is having that routine, and it’s incredible, what you can get done from that time to where, what? What is it? Where I am, it’s 945 right now, it’s 845 where you’re at, right? You. Already been up for four and four and a half hours. I mean, people are getting up right now, right? Yeah,
I’ve already done, I’ve already done leases. I’ve done, yeah. I’ve done, yeah, it’s already been a day so far.
It’s already been a day so far, exactly. So I love that, and it’s exciting that we’re able to share that. So thank you. The the next topic I want to get into really quick is, is, I know you’ve you just purchased this building, and you’ve just done this, this build out,
does You mean the second location?
Your second location?
Yeah, it’s under construction right now. Yep.
So talk, just talk to me a little bit like, where you’re at, how many rooms you have, and what, like the five year plan is with that. So now it was that again, I’m sorry, so just, just how many, how many studios are in the second building? And then how many will you have, collectively, right? And then I guess, where are you at? Have you leased everything out? And what is the long term strategy there, from a from a multiple business standpoint,
Okay, yeah, so we, so I, you know, put the offer in December. We closed in March. We started construction the first week of June. So we’re looking to be completed the end of October. So in that location, the new location will have 24 salon suites, and then a full the bed spa will move over there, and that will have its own separate entrance lobby check in three treatment rooms. So total of 27 rooms total. And then at my current location, we have 15 salon suites. At the current location, I’m completely leased out for at least another two years.
And then at the new location, so far, with pre construction leases, we are at about almost half full as far as leases are concerned, signed leases that we have. So I think by the time we open, we’ll be close to full, if not full. A lot of people, you know, inquiring, but we it’s still in the stages where you really can’t see it’s just framing and things like that. So as we get closer, obviously people will start to see what it is turning into, and we’ll probably get everything filled up. The long term goal would be ultimately, to again, create this new space with new fresh faces, and create another environment where we’re all working together and referring to one another. And then long term goal is to purchase another building in about two years and do one more.
I love it. I love it. So if I run the numbers, is that 42 rooms, then in total, yeah, okay, that’s amazing. And so now, and you have been historically, I mean again, and I follow, like a lot of successful entrepreneurs, on where I want to be next, and a lot of them, where real estate has right is they take that they make income from their business, and they they store it or save it, I guess is another word, and to make room for opportunities to invest and be able to position themselves when those opportunities arrive to invest and acquire assets right that are going to produce cash flow, yeah, passively, passive income, right? So whether you are taking your appointment here, that I know you have in about 10 minutes or not, there’s passive income coming in, correct?
Which, which is how you retire. I mean, this is, this is position yourself to to, yeah, that’s exactly what. I’m doing, positioning myself to retire and be able to live the lifestyle I am accustomed to, exactly, and you’ll have enough passive income to put yourself in a position to fully step away, even though I know you love what you do, and you may maybe that day won’t come for years. Who knows? Right? Because you have a passion for what you do and you it’s something you also want to do, yeah? But in the event that something happens and you’re like, you know what I’m done, or you’re like, you know what I’m gonna I’m gonna move or I’m gonna take a world, a year off, and travel the world, or whatever it is, right? I’m gonna spend time with my kids.
You’re positioning yourself like you’re thinking long term. This isn’t a quick you know, let’s, let’s, let’s get wealthy overnight. Like, this is wealth building, right? And it’s, it’s awesome. I mean, 42 units is fantastic. And then having ownership in taboo, obviously, that’s yours. And method, which is the esthetics business is, is really cool, so really quickly we, I know we could talk for hours on this topic, yeah, and I know that you know we’re in a time strength, but talk to me a little bit about the new website in marketing with method taboo salon or Scottsdale salon studios, they’re great.
I’ve, you know, I’ve always been super hesitant with web companies and marketing companies in the past because they, you know, promise you the world and then under deliver, super disappointed. And this is the first time that I’ve worked with a web company where I was pleasantly surprised and just shocked at how quickly things moved and how efficient things were done. The content building was amazing, making changes super easy. I’m just super happy with everything. The website look amazing, and they flow amazingly. They represent, you know, my company and who I am, and I think that that’s a huge part of finding someone that can understand what you’re looking for and be able to put it, you know, into a website, and it represent the company and the people behind the company. So, you know, just the attention to detail on what I was looking for was delivered. And just like I said, the communication just hands down, I’m just super impressed, which I would don’t say often.
Yeah, I really appreciate that. And you’ve been very direct with that up front, you know? And and you have your passion, and you want to make sure, like when you’re working on one of your clients, that it’s all about customer experience, customer satisfaction, right? And it’s something you have passion. And that goes for us as well. I think that there’s, you know, whoever has passion out there and truly cares, like is available, does respond, is helpful, and over communicates and sets expectations. So I really appreciate you saying that, and I guess I guess I got one more thing is you wear so many hats, and I know I’m not the only guy you talk to you, right?
I just help with your marketing, right? And our team does with acquiring real estate and leases and working in the medical esthetic space and working with other entrepreneurs. I mean, shoot, 42 other entrepreneurs owning multiple businesses. I mean, I’m sure you’re on with with attorneys, constantly, CPAs constantly. Like, I know how it goes, but what about like, like, family, right? I know you’re a mom, and I know you have have kids, and we haven’t talked a whole lot about that, but, but how do you juggle, you know, family versus business and, like, the constant controlled chaos where you have so many hats and everybody has a need that you have to fulfill. Like, how do you manage that?
It’s a good question. Everyone asked me that. So I am a single mom with two kids that I have full time, 13 and 10, and to be honest, they’re why I do what I do. Um, there you go. It like almost brings me to tears, because it’s it obviously takes um a lot of time away from them doing what I’m doing, but I’m trying to create stability and financial freedom and for them, sorry, you’re okay.
This is, I really appreciate this right here, so it’s a lot, and I, you know, I do the best I can. Not only one person, you know, I have a great assistant, Carly, that without her, nothing would work. You know, she keeps the wheels turning at home, she’s my nanny and my assistant, and she’s essentially the other half of me. But my kids are amazing. They’re super supportive. They’re very, very, mature for their age, very self sufficient, and both of them have that same entrepreneurial spirit.
My daughter loves to come to the salon and set up lemonade stands and make money, you know. And I’m teaching her, you know, what taxes are and rent and cost of supplies. She didn’t like that the first time, but she’s starting to understand it. So you know, we just at home when I’m home, you know, they, they get me, you know, when I get home from work, I turn it off and divide my attention to them. You know, after I work out, in the mornings, I make them breakfast. We spend time together.
And we do, we do big trips. So I work really, really hard, and then I play really, really hard. So, you know, we leave and typically in the summer for two weeks, and we spend two weeks together. We do many trips. We go skiing, and, you know, in the winter, we go skiing in spring break, so I try to spend as much quality time with them during that as I possibly can. But yeah, it’s a struggle, you know, especially having, you know, no one at home to help. But like I said, I have my both my kids are so, so amazing, and they’re so good, and they’re, they don’t, they’re not, they don’t act out. They’re not troublemakers. So it’s, you know, because of that, I think it just, it makes everything easy.
But you know, it’s it’s fun, and the process is fun, and having them be right here watching everything happen. You know, my son said to me, the day that I found out that the bank was going to give me the loan for the new building, I was in the car with them, and I started crying. And my son’s like, why are you crying? I’m like, I can’t even believe this is happening, like I’m pinching myself. Like I was just a hairdresser, you know, didn’t have any money when I started. You know, no one gave me, you know, money, nobody helped me. There’s like, no family there to help me. So, you know, I was just like, I can’t even believe this is happening.
So, you know, I think that I’m seeing that. And, you know, my son’s like, Well, Mom, isn’t it cool? You don’t only own one, but now two buildings on Scottsdale road. And I’m like, Oh, my God, I do. So, you know, again, it’s just, if you really believe in yourself and you really believe in something, I mean, if I can do it, I feel like, honestly, like anybody can do it, you just have to want it bad enough.
That’s Wow, that that was a lot to take in. You’re, you’re an aspiration to everybody, you know, every entrepreneur, every parent, business owner. I appreciate you sharing that and in the circle back like in the beginning, you know, as I know, that we transition into your why quickly, but that’s your why. You know your why is them, and that’s why you get up at four in the morning, and that’s why you have so much discipline and so much consistency and so much drive, you know. And so I think that’s that’s so special and so unique. That that it’s just, it’s inspiring, and the fact that you’ve been able to do what you’ve done, and you’re still hungry, right? Because you’re like, wow, okay, is this really happening? Like, to me, anybody can do it, and you’re there, and you’re in, you’re still hungry and still motivated because, you know, like, Hey, there, there is another level, like,
which is great, you know, and so.
I appreciate you.
