Hey everybody. Cameron Hemphill, here your host for Medical Millionaire.
Hey, first off, thanks so much for taking the time to turn into our podcast. I have heard a lot of feedback from our clients, potential clients, vendors, friends, family, that have actually taken the time to tune in and listen to a few episodes, or in some cases, every single episode. And I have a tremendous amount of gratitude for the individuals that have taken the time to do that and express the feedback and the amount of influence that they’ve received from from us giving back. And it truly fills my heart to hear somebody taking the time and implementing some of the skill sets that we teach, and putting those into action and then actually changing their lives and their outcome.
So our goal is to give value like that’s what we’re here for. And we focus on the medical spa market. So if you’re an injector, if you’re in the med spa business, the plastics business, cosmetics, anything to do with this specific space. We want to help you. So if you if you own a med spa and you’re looking to scale, open up another location. Open up your first location, wherever you’re at, open up your 10th location. We want to see you thrive, and we want to help you with that.
And so we see businesses that are constantly trying to get the next level. And I really feel like education doesn’t stop past high school or college, and in fact, I have learned so much more post college than I ever did in any of my educational years, just through trial and error and through failures, and going through those failures to understand exactly that that wasn’t a failure, it was actually a learning opportunity on not what you know, to not do anymore, and to position ourselves to go to the next level. And so that’s what we want to help you do. And so throughout this journey together, we want to help take your practice in the next episode, I am reading an incredible book right now.
The author is Tim Grover, and the book is called Winning. And I didn’t love the title, but it was recommended to me by some entrepreneurs that I work with, and so I took the time to actually take the plunge into this book. And Tim Grover is an incredible author, for one and for two, he actually has coached some of the top NBA players, entrepreneurs, business owners throughout his career, I’m talking people like Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley.
He has a big place in the NBA, but he’s also consulted some very, very high level entrepreneurs. And so when he talks about winning, it’s, it’s really interesting his perspective. And so I wanted to actually talk about winning, because that’s, that’s really why we’re here, right? And if you’re taking the time to listen to this episode and this podcast, you’re trying to win as well.
At some level, you’re trying to get a an advantage. You’re trying to figure out how to position yourself to be more successful, and so and so, really the title, although kind of like threw me winning. Maybe it sounds a little, you know, ego ish, but really that that’s, that’s what we’re here. And so if you can take the like, the humble approach, if you will, and if you can take the humility approach and associate it with winning.
It all boils down to that’s what we’re trying to do. We’re trying to win for ourselves, we’re trying to win for our family, we’re trying to win for our business, we’re trying to win for our spouse. We’re trying to win in any single direction where we’re trying to achieve, right? And so really winning is everywhere, and it all starts with with you. And there’s a part in the book where he talks about being selfish and why being selfish is actually important. And you know you hear throughout your entire life, oh, he. Selfish, She’s selfish. Don’t be selfish. Don’t be selfish. But when you think about the word selfish, it’s it’s yourself, and it’s okay to focus on yourself, and if you can take the time and focus on yourself, it’s ultimately going to help everybody around you that’s on your team. So I really loved his perspective on that. And what this is is taking time for yourself to improve.
And essentially that is being selfish, that’s working on yourself, right? And so it all starts with the minute you wake up, to the minute you wake up, there is no slowing down, even when you’re sleeping. There is in what Tim Grover says, there is that shadow, that skeleton, that comes into your mind, and if you’ve ever like, worked in your sleep, which I have done so many times.
I’ve actually, like solved problems in my mind while I’m sleeping, that that I couldn’t solve during the business day. And it’s because you’ve, like, gone into your subconscious, and you can actually slow down and get out of, like, phone calls and emails and customers and family and, you know, children and running around like chaos, you actually, like, slowed down and put yourself in a state of mind to where you can actually think it’s it’s really bizarre, and if you can relate to that, I know, like, I’m in a lot of entrepreneurial groups and mentorships and in masterminds, and we all kind of talk about it, right?
So it’s kind of interesting. So it doesn’t start with when you wake up to when you go to bed. It starts with when you wake up to when you wake up. And it starts with every single hour, every single day, every single month in order to position you to get to the level that you want to get right. And then there’s always more. There’s always more. It doesn’t always happen at once. It starts with planning. It starts with strategy. It starts with health. It starts with learning. It starts with doing things that others are not willing to do it starts with being lonely and being okay with being lonely and being by yourself.
And like, for example, I go on a run every single morning, super early, and it’s pretty rare that I actually see anybody out there, and it’s like, Wow, am I the only one out here doing this? Like, why am I the only one? Oh yeah, because you’re different and that’s okay. Being different is okay, and being lonely is okay. Because champions are lonely, and people that want to achieve the next level of success, or the next level of what they’re trying to achieve, experience being lonely and being okay with that, and finding that, that silence of of solitaire to be comfortable with, with where you’re at, and being different.
With our clients like it never ends. And let’s, let’s talk about working inside of a medical spot, right? So it never ends like you have employees. You have yourself. You’re doing marketing, you’re answering the phone, you’re sending text messages, you’re sending emails. You’re managing your EMR. You have to talk to the CPA, you have to talk to the lawyer, you have to service the client. You have to hire somebody, you have to fire somebody. Oh, yeah, you have children. Oh, wait, I’m married, right? Oh, yeah, that’s right. I do want to work out. I do. I want to read a book.
Oh, vacation, right? We should go on a vacation. Oh, by the way, when I’m on vacation, I actually have to take a business call. It’s, it’s crazy. I. Right? And so it’s okay. And so it never, it never really ends with which is, which is interesting to think about, because there’s so many other books that I’ve read that say it starts when you wake up and and five steps to happiness and and it really never ends, because you’re in your sleep doing the same thing, right? So, so there’s gonna be lots of roadblocks.
There’s going to be this battlefield, and in mind, bombs throughout your your entire day, and you’re constantly just winning, like, if you broke it down in a micro winning environment, waking up is a win. Brushing your teeth is actually a win, right? Working out, that’s a win. So you’ve actually accomplished, like, having that cup of coffee to get, you know, the right caffeine fix or whatever, that’s a win, right? Taking your medication or whatever, that that’s a win. Okay? So there’s all these wins throughout throughout the day, right? And you almost like, don’t even sit back to take the time to look at them, because you’re so focused on the end goal, right? And whatever your goals are, and aspirations and dreams, it’s winning is, is dreaming? What could be and actually living it.
That’s, that’s what winning is. It’s like it’s, it’s writing a goal down, or dreaming of that goal and then putting that goal on paper and then putting action into place that will achieve that goal. And then actually living it. Have you ever experienced that where you have actually put a goal down, a substantial goal, and achieved it, and what do you do to just check it off the list? Because I’ve done that and I’ve checked it off the list. I’m like, okay, that one’s done. But then, if you, if you take a second look back and like, oh my gosh, do you know how much effort it took to accomplish that goal?
Like Tim Grover talks about, winning is not this celebration, and I’m crushing it, and we’re gonna kill it, and I’m grinding every day, back to the grind, flexing on social media like that’s not winning, winning as he describes it. And I can totally relate, and I know that the audience that’s listened to this can also relate. It’s winning is actually the sacrifice. It’s the blood, sweat and tears. It’s the things that you are constantly doing, to overcome, to achieve and winning is is actually very challenging in its in its mean, because what’s interesting is, once you accomplish that goal and you live that dream, are you truly satisfied? Are you, or is there another goal and another step and keep going and keep going and keep going and keep going and keep going.
Or have you ever, like, had that moment of success where you like, oh, I closed that deal, or, Oh, I landed that, that great client, or we just signed up a new membership account, or we just had our biggest month ever. Well, guess what? The month starts again tomorrow. Let’s say today is the 30th. It starts again tomorrow. Right? Is a brand new, fresh month. It never ends. And so you can quickly celebrate, right? You can put that hat on, you can raise that trophy.
You can celebrate with your team. You can go to dinner and have some drinks, but the next day, it’s game time, and it’s, it’s so it’s cool to see. And you can kind of relate this to, like, New Year’s, you know, Eve and Okay, so this next year, we’re gonna, we’re gonna do amazing things, we’re gonna kill it, and we’re gonna do the biggest numbers we’ve ever done, or whatever, there’s always that mindset, whatever level you’re on, this is going to be my year, right? And then it’s funny, like everybody, not everybody, but a lot of people go out and they party, and so they wake up the next day, what hung over? They haven’t won anything, right?
They’re they’re feeling like shit, so they haven’t won anything, and then all of a sudden, February comes, March comes and and have, have, have there been achievements, right? And so I think that’s interesting to look at. But winning never, never lies. And if you can tolerate the fear and and understanding that there’s some moments of craziness throughout winning. It’s, it’s pretty interesting. I would encourage everybody to go read that book. It’s, it’s been, I read a lot of books, and it’s been a it’s been very, very impactful. And he has another book called relentless that that I want to read, as well as before he published winning. So, so I think it’s.
Yes, I just think it’s really neat that when you’re trying to achieve big things, you’re constantly trying to get that competitive edge. You’re constantly trying to win and but you have to go through the battle. You have to go through, you know, constant challenges. Like, you’re going to get a bad review, right? If you’re if you’ve been in business long enough, you’re going to get a bad review from a client. Like, it’s just going to Haley, going to happen, and you’re going to have to figure out how to manage that. And then over time, like, once you’ve had like, 1000 reviews and, like, maybe 50 of them are bad. It’s a pretty good ratio, by the way, right? 50 of them are bad.
You buy, like, the 25th bad review, you’ve figured out how to navigate it and that, and then it becomes like you don’t really care. It’s very different from getting your first like negative experience or negative review, right. You figure out how to just overcome these things. And it makes you, makes you strong, and it makes you know that no matter what, no matter what challenges are going to come your way, you’re going to overcome them.
And because you’re on this path, and you have the ability to think for yourself and know exactly what it takes to get up and go after it, right? And it really does like make sure, make sure your skin and your mind like iron clad once you go through the journey and can control the emotions and control the thoughts and control the actual outcome, right? And so I would encourage you all to read that book.
There’s he goes into so much better detail than I can, but it’s everywhere, and I really wanted you guys to to kind of get the Cliff Notes high level version of this. And again, we want to see everybody succeed, and we want to see everybody just create pure pure happiness and achieve their dreams and their goals and aspirations.
