#5: How To Get Your Med Spa Google My Business Page Ranking

Hey, everyone. Cameron Hemphill, here your host for Medical Millionaire. First off, thank you so much for joining and listening to our podcast.

Our goal is to give incredible value and insight into the medical spa market. In my team, we’ve consulted some of the top medical spa owners around the country for years. We see ones that are killing it, ones that are thriving, having tremendous amounts of success, and then we see ones that need help and need guidance and are trying to figure it out.

So the journey that we’re going to go through together is to position you to take your medical spot to the next level. Okay? And so in this episode, I want to get into how to get your Google My Business page ranking.

Now, you may have a Google My Business page, you may not have a Google My Business page. You may know what it is and it’s doing well, or you may not even know what it is over here at growth 99 an acronym we use is GMB. So if you hear me say GMB, I’m referring to Google My Business so let’s get into why it’s important to have a Google My Business page.

So number one is it shows up higher on organic ranking search in the map. Search, okay, and there’s three areas of what I call it, real estate when it comes to the internet. And the three areas are, the very top is your paid ad search results. So if you conduct a search like injectors near me, near me, Botox near me, plastic surgeons near me, medical spas near me, whatever it is. If you conduct a search right now, you’ll see that somebody’s buying that ad space at the top, okay, and that’s called Pay Per Click advertising.

If you click on their ad, you’re actually charging them money. I’ll get into that in another episode. But below that, you have your Google My Business page, okay? And that is the localized map search, right? So? And then underneath that, you actually have what is called as your organic website ranking results, which takes a tremendous amount of energy, time and effort to get that ranking through keywords and blog posts and syndication and h1 tags, meta tags, and all that stuff.

I’ll get into that on another episode, but the spot in the middle is called Google My Business Okay, and it helps with SEO like you have to have a Google My Business page, whether you have a brick and mortar location or if you’re mobile, okay? So it creates credibility and has analytics on on where to improve, okay?

And it’s going to expose you in a very powerful way, to be found online outside of your traditional website. Now you may hire an agency and spend 1000s of dollars on building out a website and doing some SEO and blog posts and a lot of content, and you’re not seeing immediate results. Well, one thing you’re going to want to do is make sure you have a Google My Business page. Okay? And it’s really easy to create one.

All you have to do is Google, Google, my business, okay, it’ll take you right to the page. You create an account, and then you’re going to put it in your address. They’re going to, you know, there’s like, a step setup process, right? It takes like, five minutes, and they’re going to mail you a postcard. And the reason why they mail you the postcard is they want to make sure that the address is going to link up with the mapping correctly.

So when you get the postcard, there’s a little code on there, and you’re going to go back and log into Google My Business and put the code, and then it will be verified, and you’ll officially have a Google My Business page. Okay, now it’s kind of like building out a website. I mean, you could go create a quick landing page on Wix or Squarespace or WordPress or whatever it is, but it’s just a landing page.

So so there’s a lot more to it once you get your Google My Business page verified, okay, and keep in mind that Google owns Google My Business, so they love it when you leverage their internal products, and it boosts your overall SEO score, okay? And again, if you build let’s just get dramatic here a $50,000 website, okay?

And it’s beautiful and it’s fast, and it’s great for mobile, and it’s doing what it’s doing your Google My Business page. It’s free and it’s going to. Outrank that website every single time. Okay, so that’s how the overall algorithm works. So Google My Business just to, just to restate that it’s free, okay? And so make sure to have that now, once you get in to your Google My Business page, I got a couple tricks and takeaways that I want you to implement.

Okay? So a lot of folks will get in there, and there’s actually a place where you can post images. All right, you may have seen that or not, but you can post images now. We’re always posting images on Instagram. We’re posting images on Facebook, on social media, but never forget about Google My Business. Okay, so if you’re posting on IG and FB, Instagram and Facebook and other sources, be sure to post on Google My Business. In fact, there’s tools out there that you can use.

When you do a post, it will hit everywhere. And just know, don’t forget about Google My Business, because if you’re active on there. Google loves to see active, consistent, continuous content, and that’s going to help you with your overall SEO search results. Okay, so that’s one, one thing that you’re going to want to take away, make sure to add labels and keywords with search locations by labels, and try to limit it up to, like, 50 characters.

Okay, you don’t want to go overboard, but at the same time, you want to have really robust content on there for location, keywords, SEO, okay, write down detailed descriptions, give relevant information about your brand. So there’s attributes, there’s descriptions. Make sure you have all of that data built out so when somebody goes and conducts a search, your keyword pops up. Okay. Now it’s also kind of neat.

This is a newer feature, I would say it’s been around for a little while. But use the Create website feature. You can actually create a simple website inside of your GMB. You can choose a theme and push out the website live. Now, the goal is not to outrake your current website, right? But Google, again, enjoys when you use their product, so just build out a quick little website. You don’t need to drive traffic to it.

You don’t need to SEO it, but it’s, it’s when you’re building out your profile. Just make sure you build out your profile and set a GMB to the fullest capacity, because what’s kind of what I’m getting at work on the backlinks of the website. Get quality backlinks, build good relations, and get your website ranked by Google. Okay?

And then there’s, there’s keywords in the business name count. So keywords are extremely important, and you can also leverage Google has a keyword tool, which is really nice. So if you’re like, Well, what keyword should I do? There’s actually a tool in there that you can get in and use and that will help you identify what keywords are going to be best for your location, okay, adding categories with multiple business categories and get connected with customers.

Okay, that’s another way that you’re gonna really get value out of Google. My business. And when you’re adding, when you’re setting up your profile like you have a main image, you have other images. You can have interior images, exterior images. You can even do like a 3d image. So add quality pictures. Think of your audience. Use a specific call to action buttons. Be sure to use your name, address and phone.

We call this nap, name, address, phone in the SEO world. And then on the last episode, I talked about reviews. So always, always, always collect reviews as often as you possibly can, okay, and that’s going to keep your Google My Business ranking very high.

So in your overall web presence strategy, in this area of real estate on the internet, it’s extremely important to stay active on Google My Business and so postings, attributes, description, the correct address, name, phone number, all of that information, really beautiful, high quality images and then continuous reviews. And be sure to have your call to action button. So if it’s call or if it’s book an appointment, Google’s answer.

Google’s actually gone through a big overhaul of this since COVID-19, but you can create the call to actions that’ll push people directly to where you want them to go, okay? And so that’s that’s going to be super important. Now, the last thing I want to get into when it comes to like this, is, like the the secret sauce, okay?

And you can learn more about this on how to get it set up. If you went through, you know, Growth99 University, or Growth99 but there’s other tools out there, and there’s other tricks, but this is something that I’ve learned over the years. There’s a way that you can grab that data inside of your Google My Business like once your profile is built out exactly how you want it to go, keywords, attributes, description, name, address, phone, stuff like that you want to syndicate, in other words, sync or integrate with all of the other online directories.

Okay, there’s over 120 different online directories. Yelp is one. Facebook is one. Manta City Search local, organic results as well. There’s actually 120 of them. So if somebody is Ubering to your location, if somebody is using Siri to get to your location. If they’re using Alexa to get to your location, those are all online directories, and it’s very, very important that you have that data on GMB, and you push it to all of the other directories having the same cohesive attributes, descriptions and name, address and phone number.

So it’s it’s not, you don’t have duplicate listings. You don’t have the wrong address, right? So let me give an example. If you have one, if you have your Google My Business listing, and it’s 123, Main Street, s, t, r, e, e, t, and then on Yelp, you have 123, main st period, Google is going to flag that as a non cohesive nap, name, address, phone, on the listing, directory, search, okay.

Same thing is like, if you want to manage all of these online directories, it’s a pain in the butt, and so let’s say you want to change your hours of operations, or you move locations, and then you have to go update all of the directories. It’s nice just to have a tool that pushes the data. And so that’s kind of the secret sauce that I wanted to get into.

But you know, if not implemented right, if you don’t have a Google My Business page, and you don’t have one built out very well, or if you’re not syndicating the data, let’s just break it down into three. If you don’t have one at all, create one, because if you don’t, you’re going to fall behind, and it’s a free tool. And make sure to go create one.

Like if you don’t, you’re you’re losing, and your your competition is going to crush you. Okay? Number two, if it’s not take the time to go in there, and maybe now’s a good time to, or after this podcast, at least, to go in and take the time to see how it’s looking like. Do you need to further build out your profile? Do you need to add some keywords? You need to add some more descriptions, attributes, stuff like that?

Okay, so, so make sure that you’re doing that. If you’re not in your competition is doing that, they’re going to beat you, they’re going to outrank you. Okay? And then, number three, if you’re not syndicating the data, the secret sauce, make sure to do that. And so that’s, that’s one key area, see, people that are not familiar with and there’s some very robust, expensive technology that we use, that actually that works. So our clients get that added value and get that benefit.

Again, you can kind of go get your own stuff, or you can manually create all the directories if you want to. But I like automation and integrations. As you guys know, I’m a tech guy, so those would be the three takeaways, and I can share a quick little success story. I have a client that didn’t have a Google My Business page.

Actually, they they did have one, and then they move locations, and they didn’t update the address, and somebody had deleted their Google My Business page and they never said. Up a new one, and I found that out, and I said, what happened? And they had no idea, and their SEO rankings were going down. And there with another provider, and they called us and said, Hey, can you guys help us with our SEO?

We moved locations, and we heard that it’s, you know, hurting our rankings. And so we conducted an audit, and with that audit, we found that they didn’t have a GMB. Went ahead and built out their GMB profile to 100% and the attributes, the name, the description, all of the information they need, beautiful images, started putting on a strategy to post on GMB three times per week, and then syndicated the data to all of the other online directories.

And literally, within days, they started getting inbound leads. So very cool success story, and love hearing ways that you know, solving online techniques for clients to make sure that they’re getting the best web presence possible.
