Description

Cameron Hemphill, host of the “Medical Millionaire” podcast, emphasizes the importance of discipline and consistency in achieving success in the medical spa industry. He compares the journey to that of a monk, stressing the need for daily rituals and rituals. Hemphill argues that success is not instant but the result of persistent effort, even in tasks disliked. Hey, what’s up, everybody? Cameron Hemphill, here your host for medical millionaire. Hey, first off, thank you so much for taking the time to tune into our podcast. Our goal is to give incredible value and insight into the medical spa market. So if you’re an injector, you’re an aesthetician, you own a medical spa, you’re in the esthetics industry, cosmetics, any way, shape or form that has to do with health, beauty and integrative medicine. This podcast, it’s 100% designed for you. So if you’re looking to take your practice to the next level, wherever you’re at. We want to be a part of that journey. We talk to providers that own one practice, looking to get into the business practice, owners that own multiple locations, even excesses of 10 locations, and we see which ones are winning and continue to win, and which ones continue to struggle. And so throughout this process and journey, as we are talking to practice owners all over the country, we internally communicate about why people are specifically winning and why others are not. And then we talk about that content, and we want to bring that value to you, right? So let’s go ahead and get started. I want to talk about something that I consistently see folks trying to do and and really, it kind of comes down to being a monk and and having tremendous discipline, right? And so if anybody has ever read books on you know what the monks go through in terms of their daily discipline, their daily activities, and how they are able to do it time and time again with less right. And so they have tremendous rituals, they have tremendous discipline. And over time, they go further down their path and basically get to different chambers within what makes them successful, right? And so that’s one way to look at it. Another way is really just to understand what it takes for someone to achieve tremendous amount of physical strength and success, right? And so from if you look at it from a physical standpoint, you know you can go on a run one time you come back, look in the mirror, there’s not going to be any results, right? You go on a run two times, no results. Three times, no results. Four times, no results. Shoot. You can work out for an entire month and maybe see some results, but maybe the results aren’t enough to make you want to continue. Okay? And that’s why you see so many people the first of the year, you know, they’re like, Okay, this is the year I’m having my goals. I’m gonna get in the best shape of my life. And like, the first week of January, like, I go to the gym a lot, I see just tons of new people coming to the gym, right? And then it slowly fades out. Like, even, like, week two, week three, week four. It’s kind of interesting, and it happens every every year, right? And so it’s pretty straightforward in the sense of when you’re running your practice the same way, okay, if you are not consistently conducting discipline activities and activities that you actually hate doing, getting up early, reviewing your goals, going through your day, planning your day, reviewing your tasks, delegating activities, implementing technology, posting on social media, continuously doing marketing like you’re and if you’re not seeing success, you need to just give it more time, and you need to take a step back and maybe take a Course, consult with somebody in the space, go to a networking event, and really understand, like, who is successful in this space, and why are they continuing to be successful, right? Because if you look at like, go back through history of where somebody started, and you’re looking to get into this space or this industry, they all started where you started at some point in time. Okay? They didn’t just, all of a sudden, wake up one day and have 10 locations. They didn’t wake up one day and have a million followers. They didn’t wake up one day and have a seven figure practice. It doesn’t work like that. They all started at zero. Everybody starts at zero. Even if you raise capital, you still start at zero. Okay, so I want you to just understand like nobody has a competitive edge, if you will. Right? Maybe somebody’s better at posting on social because their personality or whatever, or maybe somebody’s better at a specific technique. It just comes down to confidence and discipline. Yeah, literally, that’s all it comes down to, like, people that are successful, very successful, if you study the wealthy, if you study very successful entrepreneurs, in whatever field it is, none of them, none of them say, I’m extremely motivated. Motivation is my key to success. Like, obviously, you have to be motivated. I’m not, you know, trying to, you know, say that’s not a pillar of success. Obviously, motivation is important, but at the same time, motivation wears out. You can’t just continuously be motivated, right? I can’t tell you how many times I have worked when I just did not want to work. I have wanted to sleep in when, I mean, when I just I did not want to get out of bed, did not want to get out of bed, but I got out of bed anyway. I didn’t want to go on a run. I wasn’t feeling good. Didn’t want to go on a run. Went on a run anyway. After that run, after that workout, every single time, without fail. I’m so happy I did that workout. I’m so happy I went on that run. And I know you guys feel the same way, right? So if you look back and say, Okay, I know there was a time when I didn’t want to do something, but I know it was for my own benefit, and you did it. There’s not one one time that you regret it, right if you know that it benefits you. So it all comes back to to discipline and accountability within yourself, in consistently doing the things you dread and the things you don’t like. And in fact, I would encourage you to start doing the things that you dread first in the morning, because if you start doing the things that are hard in the very beginning, then the rest of your day is easy, right? So look at it. If you have something on your task list that’s like, you just keep kicking it down the road. Kicking it down the road. You’re like, Dude, I don’t want to do it. I don’t want to do it. I don’t want to do it. It’s a pain in the ass, right? Whatever it is, do it first. Wake up tomorrow and get it done. You’re going to be you’re going to feel great, and then the rest of your day is gonna be easy, right? So if that’s like following up with leads, if that’s following up with post patient care, if that’s implementing new technology like EMRs, pain in the butt, to implement, building a new website, pain in the butt, rolling out a new marketing strategy, pain in the butt, right? Like posting on social media, it’s a job, right? But if you continuously do it, and the ones that continuously do it day after day after day after day, you need to look at it from a compounding perspective, right? So there’s a gentleman out there, Darren Hardy. He wrote a book called The compound effect. Some people like the guy, some people don’t whatever. I read the book. I got some great takeaways out of it, and he does talk about compound, and so, like, basically the whole The whole point is, if you do these activities time and time and time again over the course of call it a year, two years, three years, the amount of compound that you will achieve over call it your competition. Or maybe your competition is just with yourself, or whatever your goals are, you’re gonna get closer to that dream. Okay? And I can tell you, like, literally firsthand. I do this stuff as an entrepreneur. I continuously do it right. Like getting on stage at some of these conferences freaks me out, like it’s scary, like there’s people looking at you, and you prepared, and hopefully you prepared, and oh, man, like, but you just get up there and just do it. Because if you did a great job, great. If you didn’t do a good job, cool, you learn, and you keep going, right? And I can tell you, like, I’m avid fitness person, like, I’m pretty big into health, and I work out very consistently. Now, there was a time in my life where I didn’t work out consistently, and I can tell you, like I like the way I look much better now than when I did right. But it took the discipline. It didn’t take one workout. It took the discipline and the behavioral exercise to the point now to where if I don’t work out, I don’t even I don’t feel right, I could just, I can’t even work. It’s my my brain is now completely shifted to basically only operate after a workout, and that workout could be 20 minutes, that workout could be an hour, right? But that’s, that’s kind of how it goes, because you trigger your brain to function differently. Now after workout, you can function at a tremendous high caliber of intelligence and capacity to be able to get things done very quickly, effectively, and it’s also going to it’s going to increase your performance.

Back to the show. Those are
just some of the components. Now, if there’s something that you just hate doing every day, maybe it’s posting on social media. I’m worried what people will think. I don’t want to put myself out there. Maybe I post something stupid, maybe I say the wrong thing. Who cares? Right? Who cares? Because the person is going to see it and they’re going to see the next story right after that, anywhere the next reel right after that, anyway, they don’t care. The whole point is to continuously do things that is it creates discipline that you know you have to do in order to achieve success. Okay, so if there’s someone out there that you admire that’s in the medical esthetics, cosmetic space that you’re like, you know what? This person just continues to show up. They continue to win. Why are they getting awards? Why are they always talked about, you know, like, how do they do it? Ask them. Ask him, you know, because what’s cool about entrepreneurs that have had success is they want to share their experience. There becomes a point in their life where they actually feel obligated, like literally obligated to give back, because they were at your shoes at some point in their life, right? And they still have dreams, like those entrepreneurs, those true, hungry type A entrepreneurs, like they’re not done yet, right? And so if they’ve owned a practice, or they’ve started to call it an academy, or whatever it is, like, they have things in the works that they want to do, right? They’re continuously looking to become the next best version of themselves, and what’s going to challenge them? And if you look back in history of where they came from, everybody again, started from zero, right? And as a continuous action, day after day after day after day after day, of things compounded over time to put them in a position to where they are, okay. So if you’re feeling down like you’re turning on the news, it’s constant bullshit in terms of what’s happening on what’s happening in the economy, just there’s, there’s nothing positive, right in the news. So if the news is affecting you, turn it off, right? I have a TV in my office. I used to have it on all the time and just kind of keep up with the market, the economy. I’ve actually turned it off, and it’s been off for quite a while, like, I’ll get updates every once in a while, or whatever. But I realized that what was coming out of it was extremely negative. And if I have this negative, you know thing going on in my ear, it almost impacts me. Be it’s just like this little noise buzz behind the scenes that’s saying, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. And I’m over here reading my goals in the morning, like, go, go, go, go, go, right? I’m like, Dude, I gotta shut this noise off. Like this. This isn’t working for me. I got to shut it off. I know what I’m going to do is I’m going to continue to conduct my discipline. I’m going to continue to review my goals. I’m going to continue to get better. I’m going to learn new software techniques. I’m going to keep up with everything that’s going on from a positive outlook perspective, and continuing marching that way. Okay, so if there’s a lot of negativity that’s coming into your life, and it’s kind of taking control of your discipline in whatever area, if it happens, to do with your practice, your relationships, your finances, whatever it is like, block out that noise. Focus on you and focus on your discipline. You are the one that will only stop yourself from achieving your dreams and what you want to get out of life, it’s up to you to block out the noise, take accountability, take ownership, not care, and continue to march right I was chatting with my wife earlier today, and she’s like, Dude, there’s So many people that are getting divorced right now. And I was like, Yeah, like that, that is that is true. I’ve heard more of that lately. And she actually pointed out, like, seven of our friends or people that we have associated with that have separated in the last couple years, and these are people that have been together for a long time, and it’s like a. Yeah, you’re right. Wow. I didn’t realize, like, how many it was, and I strongly believe that it has to do with the influx of negative, negativity that’s pulling them away from where their roots used to be. They’re either scrolling through social media and seeing negativity, they’re watching the news. Somebody’s in their ear. Something’s going on that has triggered this separation. And again, like again, coming back to what this podcast, this particular episode, is designed to talk about, is really like becoming a monk. From an accountability and discipline perspective, you have to have discipline in your relationships. You can’t have negativity within your relationships, okay? So if you have a relationship with your spouse, your kids, you have to invest in it. You have to water it right? It’s like anything. You have to water your business. In order for it to succeed, you have to water your fitness. In order for it to succeed, you have to water your finances. You have to water your relationships. And I think in this current environment that we are living in, there’s a lot of people that have let their shit go dry, right? They decided to go in later to the office. They quit working out as much as they wanted to. They decided to eat the ice cream versus, you know, take the salad instead, right? They decided to not, you know, learn technology. Maybe they’re spending too much. Maybe they got a new credit card. They’re like, Oh, whatever. Like, the government’s not responsible. So I, why do I have to be, you know, like you got to take ownership of your own stuff, right? So right now, I think, is the time to where the people that buckle down, the folks that seriously buckle down, take what they have right now, it’s gonna be for the taking. Like, it’s for the taking, because there’s a lot of people that are saying, You know what? Like, I’m gonna take a step back. I’m gonna I’m gonna contract a little bit. I’m gonna take a step back. I don’t know what’s going on the world. You know, like, everything I see or hear is no good. The folks that are like, look, I believe in myself. The only bet I have in this in this world or this life, I’m gonna bet on me. The people with that mindset, okay, that are saying, You know what, I don’t care. I’m blocking out the noise. I’m gonna bet on me. And they continuously do the discipline. They continuously read. They continuously march on their goals. They continuously put positive energy into their environment. They water their relationships, they water their finances, they water their fitness, they water everything around their lives. They are the ones that will continue to march because they believe in themselves. Okay? And anybody can get there, anybody can get there. It all comes down to accountability with yourself and the discipline within yourself. That’s it. It’s literally that simple. You can’t just be motivated for a half an hour and find success. You can’t be motivated for a week and be like, I’m going to be successful because I feel motivated right now. Doesn’t work like that. You have to continuously water things when you don’t want to water things. Does that make sense when you don’t want to do the shit that is hard. You have to do it because that’s when you will survive, that’s when you’ll thrive, right? And so, like, it’s interesting. I was actually just on a trip, traveling last week, and I was, I went through what, four or five different airports or something like that, and there was people everywhere. I mean, every airplane packed, every restaurant within every airport, packed. People are moving like the world is definitely moving. And wherever these people are going, they’re either going to a work event, they’re going to invest in a in their family, their relationships, going on a trip, maybe, or something of that nature. But I can tell you right now, the world is definitely moving, and there’s a lot of positive stuff happening out there, right? And so the takeaway from this, invest in yourself, hunker down and just go win. There’s no reason why. You know, we everybody can’t win. And if you’re associating with people that are saying so and so has already done that, the market’s bad. I hear all these bad things. Like, honestly, you kind of have to remove them. There has been times in my life great, like I’ve had great friendships. I’ve unfortunately had to remove those friendships from my life because I realized that they’re actually holding me back from my dreams. And what happens is, you continuously work on your dreams, and that friend continuously works on their dreams, and whatever their dreams are, that’s fine. And but over the amount of time, the compound effect, over a year or two years, the separation is literally miles long. You won’t even recognize that person anymore. In five years, and they won’t even recognize you. You know, they may say, Wow, you’ve you’ve changed a lot. You’re like, Damn right. I have was I supposed to be the same person I was five years ago. No, you’re right. I have changed. That’s the whole point. Is. I’m trying to grow and enhance my life and my lifestyle, right? And so I hope you guys got a lot out of this podcast, this episode today,
please share it. Keep the conversation going. I’d love anybody that is is going through something of like, hey, how do I get my practice to the next level? There’s something in this episode they can get from it. So let’s share it. Guys. I appreciate everybody tuning in again. My name is Cameron Hemphill.
