#85: Get Your MedSpa Game Face On

Description

Cameron Hemphill, host of the Medical Millionaire podcast, emphasizes the importance of discipline and early rising for success in the medical spa industry. He highlights that successful practice owners often wake up between 4 and 5 am to work on their businesses before daily chaos begins. This practice, he argues, provides an extra two hours daily, translating to 700 hours annually, which significantly impacts growth. Hemphill also stresses the importance of health and fitness, noting that fit business owners tend to make better decisions and maintain long-term success. He advises consistent effort and self-investment for sustained business growth.

Hey, what’s up, everybody? Cameron Hemphill, here your host for medical millionaire. Hey, first off, thank you so much for taking the time to tune into our podcast. Our goal is given credible value and insight into the medical spa market. So if you’re an injector, you’re a practice owner, you’re thinking about getting into medical esthetics this podcast, it’s 100% designed for you, and we want to help you take your practice, or wherever you’re at within your journey to the next level. My team and I, we have consulted with some of the top injectors and practice owners throughout the country for years. We see ones that are thriving. We see ones that are still trying to figure it out, and we see ones that are looking to get into the industry. The industry is experiencing a tremendous amount of growth, and it’s a very exciting time to compel yourself and take where you are and your practice to the next level. So what I want to talk about today is diving into the practice owners that I see achieving time after time after time after time again, no matter what the market conditions are, no matter what’s on the news, no matter what’s in social media, they are the ones that continue to win, right? And they have specific reasons why they continue to win. The number one reason is they have a tremendous amount of discipline and they focus on themselves, okay? And the ones that continuously focus on discipline and themselves continuously win because they’re focused now. What do they do? The practice owners that we work with that have a tremendous amount of success and have for years and will in the future, no matter what market condition is, they are the ones that consistently get up early. Okay? And I’m gonna, I’m gonna hold I’m gonna hone in on that for a second. What do I mean by get up early? It’s like I’m a business owner. I’m a parent. What are you talking about, dude, they get up early in this sense of they beat the sun up. Okay, so if you’re getting up at 789, whatever, the whatever time feels good for you, I would encourage you guys, if you are looking to take your personal career, wherever you’re at, to the next level, you need to beat the sun up. Okay, I know practice owners that get up at 4am and 5am and those are the ones that consistently keep winning, the ones that are waking up at 4am and 5am are not losing. Okay, there’s a reason why they’re getting up early. It’s because they are working on their practice, on their business during silent hours before the chaos starts, the appointment starts. The kids have to go to school. You have to work and coordinate with the nanny, the husband, everything that goes along with being a professional business and practice owner, and wearing all the other various hats that you have, okay? And it’s also called the compound effect of time, right? So currently, let’s just take, for example, you wake up at 6am pretty early. I get it right, but let’s say you went ahead and changed your mindset, and you change your mentality. And he said, You know what I want to start achieving? Because we’ve all been guilty of saying, hey, there’s just not enough time, right? There’s just not enough time. Have you ever said that to yourself? I wish I could, but there’s just not enough time in the day, right? Well, you need to create time. Okay? If you’re one that is tuning into the content that I’m putting out there, I would assume that you are the one that’s looking to take your practice, or wherever you’re at, to the next level. Okay, so let’s do some math calculations, just very quickly. Let’s say that you change your current behavior from waking up from 6am to 4am You are now giving yourself two extra hours in the day to work on yourself, work on your practice, work on your business, your family, whatever it is, you’ve given yourself two more hours in the day. So you’ve just created time, right? And by creating time and compounding that over time is what’s going to accelerate your growth habits and growth patterns. Okay, so for example, let’s say you take those two hours over the course of a week, seven days in a week, right? That’s now 14 more hours that you gave yourself back. What could you do in 14. 18 hours of free time. Think about it for a second. If you had 14 hours right now to work on your business plan, work on your practice, implement tools strategies, technology marketing techniques, posting on social media, creating a social strategy, investing in concepts, tools, education, whatever it is like that is a tremendous amount of time. And what’s interesting is that’s one freaking week of waking up two hours early. Okay, now, instead of working on your business, you can take those two hours and you can work on your health. You can take those two hours and work on your diet, your nutrition, your fitness. Maybe you want to journal. Maybe you want to work on breath technique. Maybe you want to meditate. Maybe you know, whatever the case is, you want to work on your family life. You want to read. You want to learn. You’ve now put yourself in a position to continuously create growth within where you’re trying to go. Okay, now that’s only the course of a week right now, this is what you really want to look at. Is the is the massive compound producing of time acceleration. So let’s take the same mathematical equation you got two hours that you get up early every single day, and let’s compound that over a year, 365 days in a year, times that by two, what 700 and some change? How many hours are in a day, right? You just gave yourself. Let’s just call it 700 hours back within a year. What could you possibly do over the course of a year with 700 free hours, okay? And then times that by five years, it’s a completely different it’s like going through a like a warp zone, right? So now you put yourself in a position to accelerate and hurdle other people that are like in competition. There’s a tremendous amount of competition in medical esthetics right now, I feel like there’s like, they’re like Starbucks. There’s one on every corner. But I can tell you right now, people start to get comfortable. People start to get retracting, especially in economical times. If they’re focused on media, news outlets, and not themselves and their self discipline, they can easily get distracted. I have seen med spas leap med spas. I have seen it happen, right? So if you want it bad enough, this is one technique that I would definitely put on your tool belt and continuously to roll out. This isn’t something that you want to do, like once, twice, three times. It’s about consistency and it’s about discipline and accountability to yourself.

So if it’s something that you’re gonna roll out, you know, write it down. Journal about it. Write it down. Get up earlier, and then see exactly like, how much you got done and how your life changed over the first week, and then reflect on it, and then go another week, and then soon, before you know it, you’ll just start waking up early, and it would feel like you’re sleeping in if you got those two hours of extra sleep, right? And I know, like Cameron, sleep is important. I totally get that. Totally agree. I know that there’s a lot of health benefits to having, you know, a certain amount of sleep, but what I’m saying is, go to bed earlier, right? Because those times when you’re just kind of wasting time in the evenings, when you could have more of a discipline like schedule for, you know, getting ready for bed and and getting good sleep can put you in a position to be getting up early and putting you in a position to accelerate. Okay, now, I’ve studied a tremendous amount of wealthy people in my career, and I’ve taken a lot of their habits seriously, and I’ve implemented them in my life. And what I have seen so this is something that I actually do. So I get up extremely early, and I’ve been doing it for years, and I can literally see the trend from when I started doing it, before I was doing it, to where my business, my health, my mental clarity, my focus, my family, just accelerated into new levels that I did not think were possible because I was constantly thinking that, hey, there’s not enough time in the day. Okay, so that’s one habit. Now, the other thing that I want you guys to focus on as well is focus on your health. We live in a world right now where it’s like everywhere you turn someone’s not feeling well or sick, or they have they’re fatigued, or they’re worn out, or, you know, there’s a lot of autoimmune diseases like, and I don’t want to go down that rabbit hole, but I feel like there’s a tremendous amount of things within the the atmosphere, or things within the foods that we eat, or Just our daily habits that put us in a position to also retract. Okay, so I’m not a fitness coach by any means. I’m not a nutritionist by any means. However, I take nutrition and I take health and fitness very seriously, and the reason why is because it actually makes me a better business person, and it makes me a better family man, a better husband, a better father. And I feel strong and I feel confident. And when I look through the lens of medical esthetics practice owners, the ones that are doing extremely well, they tend to be very fit, and they tend to talk about fitness. And even if you look at, like the trend of wealthy people outside of the medical esthetic space, you know, they tend to be very fit as well, right? Like, I think I saw a meme recently where I saw, like, a picture of Jeff Bezos back in, like, the late 90s, where he was working on Amazon. And now, if you see him today, he’s like, super fit and built right because, you know, like a powerful body creates a powerful mind, and when your mind feels powerful and when you feel confident, you can make decisions on demand that typically would take, like a fatigued person or someone that’s not confident, you know, or not ambitious, more time and hey, the world’s moving fast, like a lot of times, we don’t have time to think, right? We need to make decisions. We need to be sharp, we need to be on our toes, we need to be educated, and we need to make, you know, confident decisions quickly. And it’s really about having a confident, robust, healthy mind, right? And so what comes with, you know, again, waking up early, I can kind of roll these together, but what comes with waking up early is it can put you in a position to work on your physique and work on your fitness, because I know if you can walk around confidently, feel good about yourself. It’s not just around like how your body looks right and how you look in the mirror. A lot of times I’ll work out, not even for like the physical appearance appeal, but for my mental clarity, like I feel extremely sharp after a workout, after I go on a run, I feel very clear, very focused. I know exactly what direction I want to go. And like, before that run, I’m a little foggy. I’m not quite sure. And, you know, that’s like, I think now, like, if I’m gonna make a decision, that’s like, a pretty serious decision, with whether it has to do with business, family finances, whatever a run in the morning always helps me, like, just reassure exactly what that decision is going to be. And so that’s something that you can also take from by getting up early, is start focusing on your physical fitness, because it’s going to make your mind extremely powerful. And I think in the world of business today, like entrepreneurs are becoming more and more fit. I look at a business owner these days as an athlete, right? You almost have to be an athletic business owner, not like and again, I’m not saying, Hey, if you’re not an athlete, not physically fit, you’re not gonna make it. That’s what I’m saying. I’m just saying, if you can continuously invest in yourself and continuously, like, work on your mind and your spirit, you’re gonna put yourself into a position to have success, and you have to compound that over time. It’s just like with the time aspect, you can’t just get up two hours early one day a week and think it’s gonna change. It’s about the consistency over time. And same thing with physical fitness and the same thing with like, mental fitness, right? Physical fitness and mental fitness go hand in hand, but if you only do it one day a week, you’re not going to be able to put yourself in a position to really see the impact. And so when you consistently do it, you’re going to see the changes in your life. And the whole entire point you know of really the this episode that I want to push. Is Focus, focus on yourself. And again, like going back to the practice owners that I see having the most success and continuing to see growth patterns, right? So when you first start your practice, you know, you’re in the startup phase. There’s a lot to do. Then you go to the growth phase. Then you go to, you know, the the Passover phase, and then you can go to exit, but you know, your first year you’ll see great growth, you know, 100% year over year growth. Well, it’s hard to maintain that 100% year over year growth, so you have to continuously find an edge that’s going to help you take your practice to the next level. And so, you know the practice owners that are in business for over 567, 10 years. You know them still maintaining 18 to 25% year over year. Growth is incredible, right? And it’s because they start to invest in themselves, in in their practice seriously. And I know everybody that’s tuning in is in a different journey within where they’re at, if you’re just starting out right, get yourself ready. Get yourself in a position. Start to think like a business owner. Start to follow people that have had success in this space. Great place to do it is start going to conferences. Start going to networking events. And even if you are a practice owner, like three to five year practice owner, if you are not continuously going to events and continuously investing in networking opportunities and seeing exactly what other people are doing, you’re going to fall behind as well. You have to constantly stay up to date with what’s going on, so you can continuously accelerate the opportunity at hand, right? And so, you know, I would say that you know, fitness, nutrition, having a powerful body, powerful mind, compounding with waking up early to put yourself in a position is going to be hugely important to having success and putting your guys in a position to really accelerate wherever you are within your practice. Okay, I’ll leave it at that, guys. My name is Cameron Hemphill. If you found this content valuable, please share it. Let’s keep the conversation going until next time. Happy injecting you
